I went with the dealership. Was going to skip it first because of cost and look for a cheaper alternative but wife encouraged me to go ahead. They installed the Nissan OEM stuff they show in the brochure. Dealership had experience in installing and did a good job on mine. About two months into it and no problems, people are impressed with it when they see the ground lighting and the interior at night. I have it set so that the interior color pretty much matches the car, deep pearl blue. Somebody made the comment that the cupholder light was pretty cheesy, as they basically drill a hole in the cupholder and stick an led in it, but the way mine is done the hole is at the back of the cupholder so you don't see the light, just the glow, so I'm ok with it. And when you put an ozarka bottle in it the light diffuses and makes the whole bottle glow.
As to your post about the dealership installing the footwell and cupholder lighting: Did you or the dealership order the kit or did you buy aftermarket? Did you feel the dealership have experience in installing onto a newer vehicle like the '16 Maxima? Thanks.
