another boosted 4th gen PICs AND VIDEO

Ok so I spent most of my weekend working on the max and the pay off was well worth it

Setup

Vortech V2
3.33" Pulley
Mattys conversion kit
Vortech FMU (8:1)
Vortech Race BOV
3" charge pipe
Warlboro 255hp

So far everythings good, havent driven it much yet. Couple things I need to fix/finish

My tensioner is super close, I know its normal but im almost 100% positive its touching, It looks like theres a faint line in the belt but could be my imagination, either way im going to pull the tensioner bracket and try to shave off like a mm just to make myself feel better

My charge pipe blows off all the time, Im gonna have to go with a 90 degree elbow from the blower, the curved 90 just isnt grabing enough of the pipe to hold it on. and the elbow may clear my hood better then it does right now.

OIL CHANGE, any body thats doing this for the first time, when your freind says "are you sure you hooked everything up" actually check, i left the oil feed line off and dumped oil everywhere

Other then that everything seems to be tip top for the first few drives with the car. Once I get the elbow on the charge pipe and the right adapter for the TB I should be pushing more boost, i only looked at the gauge once at WOT and it looked like 5 or 6 psi. Gauge could be off but once the charge pipe is fixed i'll look into that more.

Wanna say thanks to everyone on the org for the help and all the info and answers to my ridiculous questions. I was considering selling the car but I think I might keep it around for a while now

First shots, More on my cardomain along with a video clip

**EDIT**
no idea why my pictures dont show when I post them

Sick setup man. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your piping/elbows from? I like the way it looks and the fitment is niiiice.

atpturbo.com for most of the couplers, got the 90 from siliconeintakes.com, much cheaper then atp, maybe its the way i have it clocked but the 90 really isnt working out. i got the intake pipe from intakehoses.com and had my buddy weld on the vortech flange, the maf to TB is the stillen piping. Also I think reclocking the blower would have been easier with it in the car. The thing I regret most about the install is having one of the bolts to reclock it completly blocked by the plate so I have to pull the v2 out if i want to adjust it at all. So just be aware of that if you reclock it while its out of the car. I was refering to other peoples pics to try and get an idea of where to line it up for clearance but everyone I saw was just a little different. My 90 doesnt really clear the hood at all, if I didnt have a CF hood with pins i probably wouldnt be able to close the hood but thats also mostly because I cant adjust it at all now that its installed.

sick ! cant wait to get mine on. love the charge pipe setup. not sure exactly what you mean with the 90 degree from charge pipe to blower discharge but if its popping off, try t bolt clamps cuz it looks like you have a regular one on. and if you have 3" piping then you would need the 3.00 to 2.75 reducer from intakehoses.com to attach the pipe to the blower properly.

the pipe to blower is good, I got the adapter for that. I used the standard clamp because my t bolt ones werent really fiting, I had to trim the coupler kind of at an angle so it would clear the hood and didnt have enough play with the tbolt clamps to use one there. Its poping off on the piping side. Our sales manager at work use to weld little ridges into the pipes on his blown VW's so theyd have somthing to grip when you put a coupler on it. So im going to have him do that with mine and try an elbow.

Is it the same reducer to clamp 3" onto the throttle body? 2.75 to 3? o and what size clamp do I need for the inlet on the blower? it looks like a 4" or somthing, nothing I had would fit it.

Just a FYI, but reclocking the blower should always be done once it's installed and mounted in the car. (as you've discovered) It definitely needs to be rotated more so the 90 degree elbow is touching the frame of the car. Overall, nice install.

anybody know of any other types of allen wrench tools of any kind for small spaces? the bottom one sits kind of like in line with the pulley on the bottom, Dont know what else to use other then an allen wrench or an allen socket. Anything else out there for tight spaces? Im gonna give it another shot this weekend to get to it with out pulling the plate off.

yes you would need the same for TB side. and since the 90 degree elbow is a thick wall elbow, you cant use regular 3" clamp for that because the ID is 3" but the OD is 3.5" thats why your t bolt clamps didnt have much play in them. you would need two of these cuz they are made for this application. one wraps on blower head and one wraps on charge side. the inlet (if you mean the filter side) on the blower you can use a regular 3.5 clamp"

not so sure about welding ridges on the charge pipe. sounds like boost leak to me

p.s wouldnt it be tight to have a ONE piece charge pipe with a big bore maf housing?? thats the ultimate project! no couplers, no cuts, no adapters. straight aluminum pipe

the clamps I have are 3.25 they work everywhere except on the outlet of the v2 because of the way i had to trim the coupler to make it angled a little bit so i could close the hood. The 3.25 are very tight though. I ordered a 4" clamp for the inlet, 3.5 might be tight with the coupler on it for the inlet.

I just ordered the elbow, couple clamps and the reducer for the TB, it was like 80 bucks with express shipping but w/e the more I respond to this the more I wanna finish it up and drive it.

one piece perfect fiting 3" charge pipe would be awesome
