Digital Touch Entry System Conversion
Ive been looking thru the FSM at the GXE keyless entry system, tons of other pages as well, theft warning system, the tcu, window switch, etc. I also have a VE SE in my driveway, and a digital dash GXE in my garage. After 2 days of crosschecking things in the fsm, and on the cars, I have somewhat of a start for a conversion write-up, there are only 2 or 3 wires im unsure of so I thought id post this up and see if I can get any helpful information..
when thinking of doing this conversion, I would only use one keypad/beeper in the driver door, and forget about the passenger side keypad
things you need
DIGITAL TOUCH ENTRY SYSTEM CONTROL UNIT w 2 harnesses
KEYPAD w harness
BEEPER w harness
KEY-IN SWITCH w harness
TRUNK LID OPENER RELAY w harness
HARNESS 1 (LARGER) AT CONTROL UNIT
brown/white 12V CONSTANT brown/white RADIO
brown brown at DRIVER WINDOW switch! (NOT IN SE HARNESS, ADD PIN NEXT TO SKY BLUE)
green IGNITION fusebox green, left 6th from bottom(METER 10A)
orange/black to orange/black at DOOR DUMMY LIGHT(instrument harness)
green/black green/blck at all but driver door ACTUATOR!
brown/black brown/black at driver door ACTUATOR!
green green at DRIVER and PASSENGER WINDOW switch!
purple purple at KEYPAD
red red at ignition relay2 (driver kick panel)
HARNESS 2 (SMALLER) AT CONTROL UNIT
light green light green at KEYPAD
grey grey at KEYPAD
green/orange green/orange at KEYPAD
pink pink at KEYPAD
grey/lavender g/l at jc8(28) GREY RED AT DRIVER WINDOW SWITCH
DOOR LOCK OR UNLOCK DIODE?

light green/black at TRUNK lid opener relay! NEED TO ADD
yellow/lavender KEY in switch! AND TCU
lavender/black SUNROOF l/b at open/down relay! AND/OR SUNROOF SWITCH
brown/white 12v AUDIO fuse (or RADIO)
orange CONTROL UNIT
KEY-IN SWITCH HARNESS
yellow/lavender control unit
orange ORANGE 12V LEFT 2ND FUSE FROM BOTTOM (ROOM LAMP 10A)
TRUNK LID OPENER RELAY
brown to brown trunk solenoid
light green/black control unit
white/red needs to go to w/r (trunk pop?)
3 of the wires that go to the CONTROL UNIT, also pass thru what seems to be some kind of diode box at joint connector 8 and 9. ORANGE/BLACK in HARNESS1 and BROWN and GREY/LAVENDER in HARNESS2. here is the schematic of that box.

the ORANGE/BLACK (wire going to digital touch control unit, bottom half of the picture) also goes to the DOOR IDIOT LIGHT in the instrument harness, so I figure if I tap it from there to the control unit if will have the right kind of signal since its already thru the 'diode box'
the other 2 wires come from the driver window switch (they are door lock/door unlock wires), thru the diode box, then to the control unit
so far the SE has all the wires needed except for the brown wire in the window switch (SE door harness has 6 wires for the driver window, GXE has 9)
this diode box is somewhere around where the HUD goes and I dont have access to it to see if the wires are there in the SE...im gonna guess they arent...wondering if someone more electrically inclined knows more about this 'diode box?' im hoping i can run the 2 wires from the window switch straight to the control box (bypassing the diode box), but maybe ill have to add in some diodes of my own or something?
btw if no one looks at this or responds my feelings wont be hurt
