LED won't shut off! Help?

My door courtesy light has recently been replaced, with a led. I have replaced other interior lights in the car and they all shut off when the car is closed. Why dont the courtesy lights shut off? Also is it ok to leave them on they are barely light when they should be lit. Not all the way lit just very dim. Will they still drain my battery?

the reason is because LEDs require much less power - to the point that they stay lit with the leftover current flow (or backfeed maybe), it wasn't enough to light up a standard bulb, but and LED is a different story. In other words, its normal and makes sense.. it won't kill your battery, you can mess with relay's and resistors or diodes but its just barely worth the effort.

regular bulbs have quite a bit more resistance so you don't notice the power going through them. LEDs on the other hand will have a faint glow even when everything is "off"
