Well I wouldn't be surprised if the rust goes a bit further once I start cutting it out. But as of now every thing else is quite solid. Its almost as if water was able to make its way in on that side...

Yep that's the transmission's pressure vent hose. Its normal to be hanging there. It fooled me one time after I changed the starter and I was like " where the f##k does that go.
