The grommet probably does not seal the best so that and salt could be a big factor. No one checks these areas from inside to see the dirt and moisture accumulation either. I have scooped out handfuls of crud from other cars. I have even seen the jack tools fall out.

Even without a sunroof the power antenna drain is on the right (I wonder how non power antenna cars are doing?), air vent on the left, either could let water in. The right side has a metal Y connection where the drains from the antenna and sunroof meet. Mine was corroded and ready to leak, perhaps it had already. The original owner did a good job keeping this car relatively rust free. My 98 was really bad way back in 08, much worse off than this. I had to make a much larger patch. By 2012 that car was in need of rockers, rad support, wheel arches, and these areas under the trunk.

Worn floor mat cover up.

https://maxima.org/forums/4th-genera...loor-mats.html

My SEL now has 100% more EL, electroluminescent that is. Still need to do the passenger side. Then 200% more betterer.

Subwoofer got a grille. No need to have my groceries bouncing off my jams. It comes gray similar to the plastic trunk trim. I painted it flat black because it looked out of place.

I have one of these:

If that's not good enough, please find me any other absolutely unnecessary accessories from 20 years ago. Just no LED weasel pissers.

Been busy with some interior work.

I finished the floor mats. I wired them to the ignition key illumination. They turn on and off with the remote and doors. I have a switch to manually turn them on too.

I removed the Alpine head unit and replaced it with a Kenwood DDX512 DVD touch screen. I played around with the colors to get it to match pretty good.

I had a couple of Polarg bulbs laying around, I bought some more and put in the doors, dome, map, and trunk. The trunk light now takes an 1156 bulb. I had an LED strip before as you see on my other pictures, it is just too modern for what I'm going for.

When I put a Moog control arm next to what I believe was a stock one, I thought the Moog's construction was much better than OEM, with far more welds holding the two halves together.

I too continue to have problems with the small front bushings for the LCA blowing out when using poly. I've tried both ES and SuperPro, and neither can stand up to the rigors of racing. I'll be trying out some RLR bushings soon, hopefully they hold up better.

And yeah, I feel your pain on finding quality parts like ball joints. I recently went through something similar with wheel bearings. If you weren't already aware, put amayama.com on your list of places to check for parts. They offer OEM parts at excellent prices, and often have parts that are NLA here in the US.
