Yeah, I like it. Its just enough blue. I also put the led's in the side bumper lights and I ghetto rigged one to fit in the map light (the one in the middle of the front seats) Now if I can figure out how to keep the climate control bright. Do you have a "how to" for the climate control in case there really is no way to do it? And if you do, give it to me like a 2 year old...like what exact bulbs to get, resistors, soldering etc. I know how to take the climate control apart already.

is your climate auto or manual?
edit - according to this thread (http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...bulb-info.html) you need the NEO-3 size LEDs...and they are plug and play. They are NOT the 360* leds so they WILL be a bit hotspotted, but it's better than nothing, I suppose.

the blue hue is pretty, ain't it?
EDIT - Took a quick peek at the FSM for a 96, it looks like the only way to really get the CC to not dim is to tap into the cig lighter wires, or glovebox wires, which are not controlled by the the dimmer switch. HOWEVER, I think if you do that, you have to activate those circuits by opening glovebox or by opening the ashtray (activating those associated lights).
Not sure you wanna get into that can o'worms or not...I wouldn't.

BUMP
My wife and I just celebrated our 3 year anniversary today, and she got me (among other things) a Crutchfield gift card...so I can buy this!

With the included install kits, I should have no problems, yes?

BUSY DAY TODAY!
Got the splash guards Plasti-dipped, same with the Windshield wiper arms.
Also, I used this stuff to (hopefully) reduce or eliminate highway noise. And you know what? For under 4 bucks, it works
There's a TSB on highway noise for the 4th gen... I basically noticed that tat highway speeds I have an immense amount of noise that comes into the cabin. Visual inspection of the rubber seals between the top of the door and the roofline shows parts of it "bent in" towards the center of the vehicle. What I ended up doing was using the above weatherstripping (found at Lowe's for under 4 bucks) and installed it in the groove where the seals are. The foam is installed in the groove, between the roofline body and the seals.
Sorry for the bad pic, but here you can see the location of where I installed the foam. The pic is of the front of the driver's door @ the roofline.
Also, got the Murano washer nozzles installed. Holy crap they're sooo much better than stock Maxima nozzles. Parked, the spray hits near the top of the windshield, but while driving, it's perfectly placed. Incredible. The install was super easy, there's two itty bitty tabs that neeed to be cut to fit in the hood but a pair of diagonal cutters solve that problem right quick!
Will get pics of the plasti-dipped wiper arms and the Murano nozzles tomorrow.

The install was super-simple...just have to cut two tiny tabs on the muranos so they fit, but other than that no problems at all. They are square, so if you're super-**** about these things, you might be taken aback a little. however, I am **** and at first I was like "hmm, I'm not so sure", but after a day I sorta like 'em. The spray pattern is just perfect!!!
For those curious, here are some pics of the Plasti-dipped windshield wiper arms...I think it looks great!

So it's been raining here in Seattle for the last 4 days and the wiper arms and splash guards are holding up well. Just like they were painted. I'm still uber impressed with that plasti-dip. Got a buddy coming over in the next few and were gonna plastidip his side mirrors and wiper arms.
BUT: since this thread is about my Maxima...
Some of you know it got a little boo-boo when my wife drove it, she got hit and there was damage to right rear bumper. Mainly scratches and scrapes, but there is also misalignment of the bumper cover with the surrounding trim (taillights and rear 1/4 panel). Well, long story short since I didn't want to report it to MY insurance, I called the lady who hit it last week after getting some estimates. I am not able to talk to her so I leave a voicemail, and hear nothing back.
Yesterday I get a call from her insurance, she initiated the claim with them. I'm going in today to drop the max off for bumper repair/replacement, and they're giving me a rental as well.
So hopefully she'll come out looking new

Got myself one of these as a rental, courtesy of the lady's insurance:
2012 Silverado with 1850 miles on it. Less than two thousand, yes. Still has new car smell. It's been awhile since I've driven a truck, for sure. So I'm not used to being bounced around so much, damn.
BUT I called the bodyshop where the max is at and they're aiming to be done with it tomorrow afternoon-time. :w00t:

wow it's been awhile since I updated:
Got the car back from insurance, they color-matched the BT4 flawlessly!:
Notice the ugly stock exhaust. Decide (with forum help) to change that, and to ditch the crap license plate frame.
Fast forward to today...
So I was at my friendly exhaust and welding shop today choosing an exhaust tip to get installed...
and when they get my car up and take a look at the muffler...
So instead of having a new tip on my old muffler (for 65 bucks, that's cheap!), I need to get myself a new one. They listed an OEM replacement (aftermarket, not quite OEM but close enough) installed with the new tip at just under 200 bucks.
Muffler flaking off FTL.

If you want cheap, go with Dynomax Super turbo with a nice tip. That's what I've got and it's got a slight growl up to 3k rpm, but fairly quiet after that. No drone at any speed. Of course, with everything else stock, your exhaust will be quieter than mine.
Got mine on amazon, best price at the time.
Good luck.

This is just one option, there are others out there. Just decide what you want in a muffler, loud, quiet, future exhaust set up, etc. Then do some searching on here. Sounds like you already bought a exhaust tip, so you don't need to worry about that.

No sound clip, don't have good enough recording devices...you'll just have to wait until July, if you make the meet...

So after talking to the shop they can order the same muffler you've got (Dave) and it'll be 250 installed for everything: muffler and tip.
or... I can order the muffler from Amazon and have the shop do all the welding, that'll run 200 for everything total.
I'm going to do that. Subtle but different than stock.
I like that they have sound clips of their products for comparison
So Dave, you have the 17748? That's the off-set inlet, with center outlet? I ask because the part number the shop gave me for the OEM replacment has centered inlet and outlet

Yes, I have the 17748, it's 2.5" inlet/outlet size. They may be giving you one with the stock piping dimensions, 2.25" inlet/outlet. I'd still go with 17748, in case you want to upgrade to 2.5" exhaust later down the road. Just make sure they are away of the different diameters.
It'll be a little quieter than mine, since I have the Y and B pipe, with 2.5" after the Y Pipe.
Good luck.

The 200 I mentioned would be max. total. For the purchase of muffler from amazon included with purchase of tip and installaion for both.
50 bucks ahead...probably only 100 for the welding, 30 or so for the tip.

Allrighty...pic overload...
Went to muffler shop and got my muffler and tip installed:
http://s242.photobucket.com/albums/f...ner83/exhaust/
Doesn't stick out too far at all
The tip looks a little small from some angles, but I'm pleased. I wanted it flush with the bumper cover, not sticking out. They did well. I could have got the larger tip but it would have given maybe 1/8" clearance with the cutout...which is no bueno...don't want the thing to get heat ripples.
So I am very pleased with it.

thank you sir!
It's got a good sound to it as well...makes the VQ sound nicer, and I just have the stock exhaust (right now). Very subtle growl at idle, and gets a scoche louder at WOT. But not riecy or "fart can". Subtle and clean, with just a hint of aggression.

G_hustle, I did a vid of stock earlier, gonna do another one in a day or two.
Dave - yeah they were a bit over the original estimate (total was right around 220 when I added in the cost of the muffler), but still I'm pleased. Would be pretty much the same had i gone with the no-name OEM "replacement".

Hi, I have a 2002 Maxima and wanted to change the headlights. I was really thinking about the Halo Projectors with an HID kit for both the low and high beams. I found this on ebay. 2 SET HID 00-03 NISSAN MAXIMA HALO PROJECTOR HEADLIGHTS. I wanted a chrome finish compared to the black finish. Anyone think this is a good idea and that I could go ahead with the plan to get these headlights?

n00bs, what can ya do?
besides of course
plan is to stop by the parts store on the way home and take a gander at a clean polished license plate frame. Gotta get rid of that ugly one I've got now.

Exhaust vids up! First ever youtube uploads
First vid is completely STOCK exhaust. Second vid is with new muffler and tip.
Sorry for the quality (or lack thereof) of the videos, I think that I could have gotten better had I taken them out in the open air, not with the car halfway in the garage...I think that may have messed with the sound a little. Regardless, you should be able to hear the difference between the two setups.
I tried to do similar tests...idle, rev to 2500 and hold, idle, rev up to 4k and back to idle a few times...

oh, got the plate frame yesterdy just didn't have a couple seconds to put it on, will do that today when I get home...nothing too big or bold, just something different than a plate frame advertising a dealership that no longer exists...
