I've installed the top hat with the "out" mark facing towards the back of the car. Do I have to completely remove the strut? Or can I just loosen the 3 bolts that hold it up and turn the hat until the notch properly aligns. If I have to take it out, I assume I don't have to compress the springs. I'm an idiot mechanic who should have paid attention to his father when he worked on his cars.

Hey Man, i was reading you DIY for the fuel filter. I got everything ready to swap out but i realized on the old filter there is a lil metal thing on top (fuel pressure regulator?) On the new filter there is a spot for this metal thing but no hole under it like on the old filter. Can i drill a little whole in the new filter? Is this thing going to have an effect on my car if its no hooked up? Thanks again man, and your write ups are awesome!

I was reading you write up on spring/strut installation. I cant seem to find any place to purchase the top hat for the spings. I would like to assemble the entire strut before i start. Can you help point me to a supplier where i can purchase these. Thank you in advance. I have new struts and spings already.

i have been looking at your site for a while. I had the angel eyes for a long time then I recently bought a set of ebay non-projectors. I am now working on putting mercedes benz projectors in that have the motorized flap for the high beam. I would like to use the stock high beam as a daytime running light but have no room for an additional switch. is there a way i can just have it so it works this way?:

"When the switch is "on": The DDE's come on when the car is on and shut off when the ignition is turned off. The DDE's are on whenever the ignition is in the on position."

looked at your site; shiftice, very informative.
Do you have a "how to" for rattling when cold timing chain tensioners? It would be very helpful since it happens to be a common problem. Thanks!

Housecor, thanks for your site write up on replaceing struts. I was able to do all 4 of mine, replace the rear calipers, brakes and rotors and bleed the brakes. Now I have a problem that you may be able to help with. The passenger side front cv axle is not engaged with the wheel since replaceing strut. How would you fix this problem? Its a 4th gen manual. Do I need to remove the lower strut bolts or the wheel?

Housecor, Saw your site and it's well done! I have a relatively simple question. I'm looking to install Flex LED's so that they turn on with the parking lights. Can you tell me which wire I should tap to have the LED's turn on with the parking lights? Thanks in advance for your help.
