No one said performance parts themselves were unique. Not sure where you got that from.
Getting 300+whp from a FWD 4dr is however pretty unique.
Its definitely not something you see everyday. Running 11's and 12's in the 1/4 in this same type of car that normally runs high 14's to 15's is pretty unique as well and more then just a "little faster"
"it's what enthusiasts do",...What is that supposed to mean?
Anyone who likes and appreciates a certain thing is an enthusiast.
You dont have to install performance parts to be an automotive enthusiasts.
Also, FWIW the market for aftermarket parts for our cars is a bit limited. Some parts have to be modified and etc. to work with our applications. Those things take creativity and logic which therefore once again results in a more unique vehicle.
I will agree, that in the end it will always be a Maxima, and there will always be something faster out there. But that doesnt mean its not worth building it up to get the most out of it that you can. I for one love when I pull on a V8 sports car and have them come up to me later in amazement asking what all has been done to my car.

Making a car faster is the trend. Yes, some guys don't care about anything except making the car fast, that is the main problem I'm addressing.

How about the multicolored paint schemes that seamed to mainly end up on 80's era Camaros? Or the super-metalflake candy paint?

Forgot a couple:
* Hoodpins on aftermarket hoods (used to see that all the time)
* Chrome or gold wheel fender trim
* SLOW TRAFFIC KEEP ---> backwards sticker on the windshield - People in front of you would see it normally looking in their rearview mirror

Your point is moot and off topic. making a car faster is not a fad or trend, Fads and trends come and go, faster has been around for 100 years. Making it LOOK faster is fad (RICE). Aesthetic appearances are all well and good, and is not a fad in itself. Furthermore there is nothing wrong with the clean look of a stock appearing fast car (sleeper). Both schools have been around for ever.

You're right, it is off topic, performance mods aren't a fad. They serve a purpose and people will continue to focus on making their car faster. But they are most definitely a trend, which is almost worse than many fads. Fads aren't necessarily bad things, they just go out of style. But there's zero individuality when it comes to trends.

Hectic, I agree with you on this one. People have been modifying the "horseless carriage" since the dawn of the internal combustion engine to go faster. Modifying a car, boat, airplane, go-kart, motorcycle, 4-wheeler, snow mobile, and so on, isn't a fad or even a trend. It's a way of life. And it goes beyond just cars. Even steam locomotives back in the day were modified to go faster until a bigger and better model came around, and then that was modified for more speed.

lol he basically picked every fad that is out there and did them all terribly. The fads are not my cup of tea but if you are going to do something then at least do it right. WTF IS UP WITH THAT RAKE MY GOD!!!??? facepalm for a 3in rake on a FWD car good lord I really hope he is some giant joke and that he actually doesn't think that looks good

i dont think it will go away i feel that the cars that can pull it off are becoming less and less. now i love a black 300zx with gold or red rim and dont feel that is going to die out.

1: People would fail to put the lap belt on and end up under the dashboard.
2: If the door popped open during a crash, guess what? So are you.
