Maxima gets props in an article about GT4.
"Obviously, as we all know, Ferrari, Maserati, Bentley and Lamborghini didn't make the cut yet again, but we still have our selection of Porsches (thanks to RUF), among others. Surprisingly, GT4 has the redesigned 2005 BMW 330i in the game, so its obvious that Polyphony was arguably the very first in the automotive industry to have seen and driven the car -- because its revelation was only made around November of 2004. The game's selection of cars is ridiculously vast, but I am very, very disappointed to see (or not see) that Nissan's best selling vehicle line made absolutely no appearance -- the Maxima. Being the owner of a 2001 SE, I was really looking forward to driving a Maxima in the game, but alas I was left sorely disappointed, especially since they're incredibly fast cars. Still GT4 features other cars that I have a lot of interest in, including the Infiniti G35, Infiniti G35 Coupe (Nissan Skyline in the game), Infiniti FX45, Acura TSX (Honda Accord in the game), Honda Accord V6 Coupe (US import), BMW 330i, BMW M5, and the Lexus SC430 (a car I get to drive often)."
Entire article
I was suprised, happy and upset to read this. Surprised and happy since he talked about a Maxima....upset because it won't be in the game.
Starting Feb 22nd my life will become very anti-social.

I don't know if I ever mentioned it, but I've been a member of the gaming media for the past 5 years now.

That is strange that the Max didn't show up on that game again. It would help a lot of us see the performance of our cars on a game and even try different accessories. I picked the rims on my prev car based on GT3 or GT2.
If I am not mistaken, Need for Speed bought the exclusive rights to those cars you (MixSER6) mentioned and that is why they were not on the GT series. Porshe made it due to RUF. I read this before GT3 came out. NYPD-Arnold, can you verify that?

The reason Ferrari's etc are not in the game is because in previous generations of the game, they kept the rights so that they could release their own games (ala 355 Challenge, etc). Obviously they bit the dust compared to the previous GT games. So this time around, they have signed up with Microsoft for their attempt at an xbox GT game (forza gt). Sad, but whatever, GT4 will own it all day long anyway.
I've been playing the japanese version of GT4 and at first, I was a little disappointed that the graphics didnt totally blow me away. But after I got over my initial (admittedly somewhat unreasonable) expectations, I noticed all the little nuances in the game. The realistic wheel spin, more natural physics, brake fade, nose diving in breaking and leaning back on acceleration, the little extras on the sound detail and the sheer amount of content. It's truely amazing. Can't wait for the american version
Edit: Oh yeah, and keep your eyes peeled for GT4 PSP. It's coming!

Thanks, Mark.
There is no 3.5 Altima in GT4, only Forza -- the Xbox game.
And, uhh...yes, Maximas are incredibly fast. 70% of GT4's cars are slow 16-second pieces of sh*t. I really hate the amount of crappy cars they model into the game. It'd have been nice to have a 14-second whip in the game, which is coincidentally Nissan's best selling car of all time (especially the 4th and 5th gen). WTF, Polyphony?
Anyways, I'm going to be retracting that review anyways...lowering the score a tad. There are too many issues with the import version that I've discovered -- it has to be lowered.

I've been waiting for this game for over a year, I can't wait. I just called EB Games and Gamestop and they said it was being released February 23. I've heard three different dates, but I know it is next week. Does GT4 have the i.Link battle like GT3? LAN is online, right? I know what it stands for but the different names confuse me. What is the 6 player LAN?

I believe there is no iLink play in this version. LAN means local area network. GT4 is capable of playing your friends across a LAN, but not online. However, you can get something like X-Link (see teamxlink.co.uk) which can tunnel your local area connection across the internet to other people using X-Link.
I can't confirm whether or not GT4-US has a 6th gen maxima, but I can tell you that the Japanese version does not. Also, don't blame Polephony for not putting it in the game.. If it's not there, it was Nissan's decision.
Anyway, there's lots of other cool features in there. I think we'll need a GT4 photo-mode thread in OT

Its absolutely awesome. I haven't had much time to play it yet, but I'm a huge fan of the new M5...too bad there isn't a Maxima in the game..that would make it 10 times better (as if it isn't good enough).

Yes this game is crazy good, but man its a lot a more competitive than the previous ones. Yeah thats really sad that they don't have the Maxima of any generation. Oh well...its not going to kill me. By the looks of it, its going to take a lot longer to finish the game, a lot more race tracks and different types of races.
