Another '00 manifold on a 4th gen up and running.
First off, I want to thank krismax and everyone who helped him for taking the jump into this project. I'd have probably never tried it if he hadn't showed it could be done.
I got my manifold on and running last Tues. night. I've got a CEL now but I'm pretty sure what all's there even though I haven't checked the codes yet.
Impressions: I absolutely love it. I'm not going to make any claims as to how much horsepower it added or anything but I will say this thing feels like it has a lot more torque now than with the MEVI. From a standstill it pulls VERY hard. I am using the '00 manifold with the '00 TB. I wired the '00 IACV plug into my '96 wiring harness. Not sure if it's working totally correct but I do know that with it unplugged, timing runs at 0. With it plugged in the timing fluctuates from 8-12. So it is doing something. I'm using the throttle cable as an idle speed control. I totally removed the EGR system as it got in the way of the 5th gen IACV. I haven't got to check fuel mileage accurately because I blew a fuel line on the highway on Thursday and used a 1/4 tank in about 25 miles.
I have yet to figure out the correct RPM switchover point. I went to the track Sat and never got below 15.07. I tried 4500, 4800, 5000, 5200, 5400 all yielding very similar times. All 60 ft.'s were all in the mid to high 2.2X's which is encouraging because I'm usually lucky to get a 2.28-2.29 once in a night of racing. Need to dyno.
It is running rich also. I can tell that even on my two cheap autometer gauges. They used to get into the rich about 1-2 bars. Now at WOT they are almost pegged. Again, need some time on the dyno.
I have one question about the fuel control. Does anyone think that a V-AFC would be enough to tune the fuel back and then be able to use the V-TEC controller part as an RPM switch?

Awesome dude! Did you do it basically the same way Krismax did, or different in some respects?
I think you could bring the fuel ratio back with an AFC, but might only work at full throttle or close. You could get an e-Manage and use the injector scalar, or lower your base FP.
I think others on here have used a V-AFC for the RPM switch over on a MEVI, don't see why you couldn't do the same.

Basically the same as krismax with a few little changes. I didn't have the adapter piece he had made for the IACV so I had to do that bit a little different. Since he used that piece he was able to retain the EGR system because the pipe for the '00 manifold is a direct swap onto the 4th gen EGR. Basically everything else was the same. It was a pretty straightforward swap looking at it in retrospect.
How does a dyno shop read the fuel ratio's? Do I need to get a good wideband A/F gauge or how do they do it?

wow great job my car is running very rich from it to ,I lost like 10 mpg.
I still busted off a 13.8 running rich,Im in the process of putting the 01 tranny and 00 engine in . I cant wait to get it tuned with the E-manage.

Even with this thing untuned, I like it way better than my MEVI. Around town it feels like a totally different car. It's great. I'm no longer waiting for the changeover to know it's there. I can feel it from the time I put my foot down on the gas

I want to put a 01 tranny in because ours is **** not because you solved a mystery on how to put the 01 tranny in.
I thought about puting a 3.5 in my car but for the money that would cost i could (will) cam my engine and stroke it to 3.3 and have it tuned with a E-manage. When you get your 3.5 in get your best time we will compare

i could have put the VI in on my 2k engine but i did not see the whole point of doing that when i am going to upgrade to 3.5 and what mystery is there to puttin a 2k-2k1 tranny into a 4th gen? i just said everybody is putting VI instead of MEVI now and more people are upgrading to 2k-2k1 engines.
and for the track #, I am down for that. I knew I should have went to the track and a dyno with this engine but I didnt and that was a mistake.
