OK the car is officially a loss

stayin Nissan and not considering the 300zx????? i like um alot better than 240s. i dont know which has more potential but i would guess about the same. i actually saw an SR20 swap turbo running high 14s last time I went to the track. Not impressed at all.
350 and G35 are sweet but sorda yuppie. from what ive heard the powerplant cant handle boost if thats the way you want to go.
i say: 300, then 240, then 350, then G35.
let us know when you make a decision...good luck...PEACE.

That way maybe this car will be fast
and that really sucks dude... but from ashes come great things.. you have a chance to redo do it.. think about all the things your car did NOT have and you wanted....
then go from there
Also the Infinti f45 looks good AWD and 300 HP

Okay lets make this really simple. If you like the idea of toying around with cars still. You like to fix things, mod them, transplant something, suffer down time. By all means go for the 240. If you want something thats foreward thinking towards the future, if you like the rush and anticipation of waiting for NEW mods and new ideas get the G35c. I like 4th gens...i love the red color but almost everythings been done. As for the G35, you wont worry about things falling apart yet, all you do is MOD MOD and MOD.

it's just so unfair for stuff like this to happen. i would definitely urge you to get "a" g35...coupe or sedan, who cares? it's just bad a$$. Dont get it in red...that's like a bull's eye. Red is a sweet color but it just has a "magnetic" effect...good and bad stuff gets attracted to it. good luck man and all the best.

I also vote for a red G35 coupe for you Jeff. It depends on what you want. Do you want all out speed? Then get the 240 and do the swap, then turbo it. I still like the 6spd G35 coupe. It's fast enough, and look darn good too.

I keep trying to explain this idea without getting technical, but the cost of ownership of a Nissan car is relatively high, yet that of a BMW is not as high as it may appear. The maintenance is pretty steep though. But I'm talking true cost of ownership. The pony-up money is much more of course. Some dude I had dinner with said his house is 1.2 mil in Rye, NY, and it's only 4-bed/2.5 bath. That's over double mine plus 200 grand, but I'm in Main Line Phila--do you think his costs are double mine to live in his house? Of course not, and when he sells it, he doesn't lose any money because it sells for more. I think when you outgrow a Maxima, it doesn't make sense to simply get another Nissan, if you have money and deserve it, move up. It is not snobby to pay for quality. Lateral moves waste a lot of money, like that dude that kept getting a new car every other month. He could have bought a 7 Series with all that money he wasted.

then he should definately cross the 350z off the list, since it's a 2 seater. At least the g35c has back seats and his child is not likely to be big enough to not fit back there for many, many years to come

if you go with a S14 240 and the same thing happens like it did to your max, you're definately screwed. a 1995 is going to be between $4K to $6K. an RB25 swap with FMIC, injectors blah blah blah will run you between $4K-$5K depending on how much you get the motor for (last checked at around $2500 to $3000). than if you do a front end conversion, expect another $1500 to $2K. not to mention all the other stuff you'd end up doing like rims, system, body kit, ect. if it gets hit, your insurance will only cover the base value of the car so you are stuck doing the same over again but at a huge loss, even if you get to keep the mods.
my vote is for a G35 6spd or another maxima

You can pick up another 99 SE-L, red, with similar milage (around 85k?) for 10-12k. But make it a 5 speed this time and transfer all mods.

Jeff you may have the opportunity to do something one of a kind. The Silvia swap is played out like the GS-R motor in the civic. Have you thought about getting a 98 240 and doing a VQ35DE swap from a 350Z ? That would be a quick car from the start.

I hope so, I duno honestly I'd miss your Maxima... hey while you're at it you should move to CA
but if not the Maxima, make sure its the G35 coupe or... www.sc300turbo.com www.turboimports.com muwahahahaha
I used to own a SR 240... its an awesome car

my uncle just went through the same situation. look, having a turbo 240 would be nice and all, but then you have to comprimise always having to tune the car and always putting in money and down time. not to mention like some one said earlier... if it gets totaled, you just lost a lot of money with all the mods. i think you should take advantage and use that money the insurance is giving you and give a bada** down payment for a more a better car. like many others say, a G35c 6speed would be an obvious good choice. if you really need teh 4 door room, maybe a 2k2 6speed. also if you need 4 doors i think a car u should think about is the IS300. but for that money you might as well pay another 5k for the g35

I have been very very very impressed with those cars. They are stout cars and their stock performance should keep you happy for a long time. Still has 4 doors, they come in red too.
They are also running 12 flats on stock turbo, IC, fuel system.
Don't know if speed is important to you.
Good luck

when they call you up for an offer, simply tell them "ouch, my neck hurts, please call me back later". Its worth a shot if you feel they are trying to screw you. A friend of mine was only going to get $8500 for a car he had just paid $10,300 for 3 weeks prior. a few hours later they called him saying $11,000. Oh, his neck really did hurt though.

I say stick with a Max, not too expensive, plus you have all the mods you could carry over to the new car. Make the new car better...
Get another Maxima!
