Did this guy ever post here? I know he sold his car to begin a new project (with a Neon or something).

Was this thing really that well balanced? Have any other Maxima drivers ever raced against him? He seems to have a good setup, I wonder if there are any maxima's and drivers who can beat him.

As I said, there is nothing fancy about that car, there are members on this board with more mods than that...he doesnt even have subframe connectors. We should set something up with that guy and see how well he does against members that know their stuff.

His car was long gone before subframe connectors were even out for the car. A lot of mods and overstiffening a car can be counter-productive. Perhaps he found what he thought was the best balance for the car.

I always love when I run into some ricer driver who has every handling mod in the world. You wonder if their suspension is even capable of moving, 3" drop, rear sway, front sway, fstb, adjustable shocks on stiffest setting, rear strut bar, rear tie bar, sub frame connectors, x-braces, etc.

First time out on the track they're in the weeds.

AutoX is 99% driver. The car has nothing to do with it. Put that guy in an 86 Ford Tempo and he'll run circles around almost anyone on this board. The car's nothing special, the driver is.

I said I knew he had sold his car and everything (which was A LONG TIME AGO). I know this is old news, it's just I never paid any attention to any threads with this guy in it (if there were any). I was just asking if anyone had any first hand info regarding the driver or the car.

hehe... This only applies to rwd cars but I've always gotten into arguments with people who want a serious drag streetable car and I suggest the best suspension mod, (and a good mod in general to reduce ETs) is to install 90:10 shocks up front... But no... they want to lower and look good but still have a fast car.. Not gonna happen... Their hole shot is crap with no traction, whereas my old Malibu is hooking like a b*stard! Nothing like getting a wheel off the ground

The reason he didn't have tons of mods was because it would have bumped him up in the classes. The Maxima isn't a great autocrossing car, and if he had all possible mods he would have been in SM. He would be competing against cars that are far superior to the Maxima.

After autocrossing I do believe the Maxima is a good platform to learn to drive on. If you can handle slaloms with our body roll, then get in a smaller RWD car (i.e. Miata) and you'll be awesome.

If AutoX and AutoCross are not good venues for the Max, I'd say try Rallying instead, where maybe the Max would be really really good.

Only good for Maximas with 4x4 wheelgap. IE: 4th gens.
