I love old school MTX amplifiers **PIC**

I'll see if I can pull them out next weekend, clean everything up, test them, and get some pics and see if you're interested.

That doesn't mean there's anything wrong with them. the drivers? yeah, sitting in the barn is not good for the surrounds. the amps? hiding in the trunk out of the weather is a pretty nice place for them.

eh... they still fire up when I start the car to move it. I just don't pay attention to how they sound or anything.
IMO, starting them with 5V is asking for more problems. the voltage regulators and such inside are expecting to stabilize the preamp stage with +12v, not +5v. running it with lower voltage like that, you tend to do more harm than good by stressing the voltage regualtors.
If you're worried about blowing up a cap in the power supply or something, then that's a different story. even then, If the thing blows up from having 12V applied to it, then it needed repair anyway and I wouldn't feel comfortable selling it.
Good thing is I have a spare car battery and a 40A power supply in the garage that I can use to keep things charged. I run power from that and then have an old Eclipse head unit in the garage I can use for controlling things.
Once they warm up and get moving, I have a set of JBL L7 home speakers that will really give them a workout.

Caps were my concern. Many can be easily salvaged Prior to blowing/leaking em just by simply applying lower voltage in gradual increments. Unloaded of course !
Working or not I would still be somewhat interested, just changes the value. They would be sitting on a shelf, Not for resale !
Now when ya wanna run those speaker, lemme know. I have some real amps for ya to put on em.
