I just had my alternator replaced on my 2017 SL with 140k miles which I've had since 15k miles. Funny thing is while I was at the dealer, there was another 2017 Maxima there that was in for the same issues. Her's only had 85k miles though.

I had been driving for an hour in 90 degree heat and then one by one, the lights and warnings started lighting up on the dash, I lost throttle, then I lost AC, and power steering and car only crawled until I put it in park and shut it off and then it didn't turn on again.

Funny thing is that I had it towed to the dealer and there was another 2017 Max there but only with 85k miles, mine has 140k. So it might just be a time thing where the stock alternators wear out around this time. Been seeing more and more posts on Reddit and these forums about pre-facelift 8th gens with similar symptoms.

Replace with an OEM alternator though. Some people have been having issues with aftermarket ones crapping out pretty soon on them.

Here's a phot of my Max just cause lol

Thank you very much for this information. In my experience your alternator going out at that mileage is about par for the course for me. That must have been an expensive replacement. I'm going to check my insurance to make sure I Still have towing. I usually do my own work but I hear alternator replacements are a b****. Again, thank you very much for posting this and giving us warnings.

Be sure to use factory alternator. Bite the bulllett and let the dealer do this job. That way they own any problems. Good luck
