I have an 01 Maxima with a curious problem. The check engine light comes on after I fill it up with fuel and stays on until I'm down to about 3/8 of a tank. Then it goes off until the next time I refuel.

I have replaced the fuel sending unit and gas cap and still have the same problem. Any thoughts?

I has a similar problem w/ my G35 when I 1st got it used. The dealer went through the same routine, checked all the wiring etc. They finally discovered the problem was a faulty gas gauge. They replaced the instrument cluster and that fixed the problem. Thankfully they honored the 90 day used car warranty & covered everything including a rental car while mine was in the shop.
