State Tint Law Summary Table

If anyone needs it, even though I know it isn't 5G specific.

I just came across this document online, so don't ask me what the codes and abbreviations are. There is some explanation at the bottom in the footnotes though.

Hope it helps.

Not sure how recent it is, but it's incorrect for Washington State... it used to be 35 but now is 25%

The date is in the filename: August 2, 2010.

And it states 24% for Washington.

Thanks Puppetmaster, great info here!! Now I know that my "medical clearance" is in fact valid in New York. They can look at me funny all they want, but they can eat it.

It will account for the tint in the factory glass which means you can't go darker than 35% film.

Here's a question, are mid to large SUVs considered car or MPV? I'm guessing car...?

that's 6" not 6%.... meaning the strip can be 6" from the top of the windshield.

I actually got my tint done between when the original tint law was repealed and the new tint law was enacted. I don't think they'll grandfather me in, nor do I have a receipt. However, I've never had an issue my 15%.

Tolerance is the column on the right. And GA is only 3%. Hawaii is 6%.

Must be MPV, because my wife's CR-V, although certainly a car by any measure, came with blacked-out rear door windows here in New York. Apparently, as far as tint laws go, Cross-overs aren't cars. Go figure.

Also, in NY you can paint your rear window black if you want. Doesn't matter. The NY laws don't apply to the rear window, just the sides.

Just curious because in VA it says no limit on rear and rear side windows for MPVs. I can get the wife's SUV murdered out y0! Just kidding.

Yes, but " means inches... 6" aka 6 inches for GA windshield. Tolerance is +/- which is % not ". It's under the same column as % visible light, but if you notice it's either AS1 or listed as measurement with " behind the number. If its a % then its listed as only the number.

*edit* pic is better to explain.. crap pic didn't show text bubbles.

You're still looking at the wrong thing. He was referring to the Tolerance which is listed at percent.

I took a screenshot. It's the column on the right.

yeah, too many columns made my eyes play tricks. And I have had darker than legal before with no issues but I really don't feel like dealing with the potential issue so I want to stick tot he legal limit I think.

eff teh po po!

Even though in NYS the side windows are 75%, I found that they are less strict on the rear windows. Especially outside of the city they seem to not care as much.
