5th gen > Mazdaspeed3?

I'm not really sure how i beat him, but i was going down a one lane road and i see a mazda3 in front of me going about 15 mph. i was getting a bit frustrated so i high beamed him and noticed the mazdaspeed3 badge on the trunk. then the lane split into 2 lanes, and he went to the right one, i went to the left, and then i noticed, this guy had mazdaspeed decals all over his car. we pull up to a stop light, and he starts revving at me, and my windows aren't tinted, so i just looked out my window and smiled i shift to first(? i have an auto but i use the lower gears, its probably horrifically bad for my tranny). put my foot on the brake and press the gas a bit(again, probably horrifically bad for my car). light turns green and i shot off the line walking him for literally about 4-5 car lengths, it looked like he wasnt trying at all. so after he went out of view, i slowed down to 30, and then i see him coming back up in my rear view, slowly creeping up. then i see his headlights lift and he starts pulling on me, so i shift from second to first, and floor it, and he pulls up next to me at about 70, then i start walking away from him again. i turned around and saw his face, it looked a bit like this hahaha. i always assumed the speed3's were faster? or maybe this guy just doesnt know how to drive?

I don't see the point of this post, or mine for that matter. If you're racing your car, have fun, but there are probably sixteen year olds that you're influencing on here, so keep it to yourself.

Meh. Car & Driver rates the Speed3 at 14.5 in the quarter mile, so it's anybody's game, really.

It's not about speed, OP, or who is faster. It's about driving fun. It takes a while for people to realize this, but once you do, it will make your automotive hobby so much better, and you'll stop road-racing little ricers with your 4-door sedan.

IBTL.

Maybe he was a generic Mazda3 rocking Mspeed badges, or even a fresh driver. I'm not sure, that is one fast front-wheeler, maybe too fast on the fronts. My Talon w/ the Quaife still chirps tires...was annoying to get used to.

ibtl? Why not?

Because I've seen them run at E-town, and slow they ain't.

But fine (my other option above was a bad driver) What else?

Doesnt matter the question was answered... whether it was jimmie johnson or a 3yrs old in the driver seat, the maxima clearly whooped its ****.... just cause around ur way they run things don't mean they all that, they get whooped out here all the time... I can see if it was like a vette vs a max, what's the stated time difference???.. an avg stock maxima driver ir 14.2-14.4... of coarse PB rrecorded at 14.0, what's the time for the speed3???

I agree the Mazda driver was bad. He must've been in the wrong gear at 70.
The stock Mazdaspeed 3 is rated at 230 crank hp in 1st and 2nd gear through boost limiting, but I doubt my '01 SE auto would've normally walked on the Mazda.

you know what... i take my statement back... i misread the title for 5.5... not 5th.. yes the mazda speed 3 is faster than a 5th gen, and stop bishing about dude missing gears you idots cause he didnt clearly the audio is delayed and he was running a 5.5 that ran a 13.4... lets see if all statements change then, lets see if he's all the sudden a good driver

After your second response I was definitely beginning to think you were referring to the 5.5 b/c I was ready to ask you what 5th gen avg'd mid 14's.

PS: for the bolded (??)
