not sure what the name of the bridge is.....it's in the Florida Keys and you can't actually get a car (or anything) on it since both ends are blasted away from the shore....

I had to jump, Dukes of Hazzard-style, to get the car over there and then did an e-brake slide to the end.

Irish says his is baffled. I assume that means that the in and out hoses are seperated at least partly so the oily air doesn't just do a 180 an go right back into the IM. I really think the key to the smaller ones is the small internal honeycomb style filter element that allows the oil to go from an atomized state back to a liquid and get trapped in the bowl.

I myself, will probably just get a larger one in this air compressor style in the 0.5 liter variety to save from opening the hood every 2 weeks to empty the little 3oz. one I have now.

thats the same filter i just installed a few days ago, i checked it this morning... its already 1/4 filled

That photo was taken from the west end of Bahia Honda looking at the end of the Flaglar bridge from a viewing area. I know this, because I just got back from Key West. Just had to ask!

I still think it was called Rte 1 (I think). That bridge construction ended up killing a lot of people, Flagler (or his project manager) in his eagerness to complete the project had a lot of causeway built, during the next hurricane it amplified the storm surge and a couple hundred people died.

Hey Irish44j, how about an update on that baffled ebay oil can. You've been pretty quiet on its effectiveness.

I don't know if I should start a new thread but since this is about the oil catch can I guess I can ask here.

I have a Greddy Oil Catch Can, I'm having a bit of trouble finding a good place to mounted. I think im gona order the T mounting bracket, that way it would be easier to have it mount.

Anyone have a picture of a Greddy Oil Catch Can mounted on a 5.5 Gen?

If your using the same filter in the picture, as I am, there is a black gasket thing that takes up most of the bottom of the filter. I thought the same thing at first. I switched to the larger filter with the drainvalve and it's MUCH easier to drain.

It works great....I switched because I'm too lazy to empty it every couple of weeks....I always forget to do it and then it's full-up. That, and I need SOMETHING to bling up the engine bay

So in two months it only filled up 1/8 of the tank? Do you think it's collecting at the same rate as the HD can? How much since then?

Probably because it is as full as it can get without spilling over and dumping oil back into your intake. I believe mine does the same thing.

I think when they are 3/4 full, the pressure inside the catch can is much higher than when it is empty, my home depot one fills up fast to about 1/2 then slows down from there...

since it's already been bumped, has anyone tracked their mileage to quantify any increases in MPG with an oil catch can, or is it really negligible. In reading this and the old thread, the biggest thing seemed to be an increase in efficiency. Seems like even it was small it would be worth it but just wondering if anyone knows.

mine started leaking from the bleeder at the bottom, I guess it is still doing it's job though--not allowing oil into the manifold, but nonetheless, I had to do somethings to seal it at the bottom, I guess heat over time might have messed with the plastic casing at the bottom...perhaps it's time to look for another collector/resevoir or maybe even a real catch can...
