Optima yellow or red top. No idea on the price. I got an autozone special: good ol' duralast because mine died in the middle of a roadtrip!

Get the optima red top unless you have a big stereo system then you should go with a yellow top. First time you start your car you'll tell a difference. Try Ebay or a group deal

I have a costco memebership and if I can get a red top for $90 then I think I am going to go with that. That's how much I think a diehard gold would be. Thanks guys.

Especially when you have to bring it back 5 to 6 times before you find a battery that last more than a week. Ive heard WAY to many horror stories about that and lived through it with my father getting a batter for my sis's 92 Accord. 5 weeks, 6 batterys and finally got a good one. I would never purchase a Die hard. Ever !!!!

Go Optima Red top if you want a quality battery. Gel cell, new technology, cant go wrong

you must have bad luck. I've been using DieHards in my cars for about 15 years now, and have NEVER had a dead battery. Ever. Never had any problems with cold cranking either.

@97neptune, sorry about that, I have the extended warranty so the dealership replaced it. So I’m guessing it's OEM? That's bad huh?

@irish44j, I was at sear today and they had about 100 different diehard batteries. So I turned around and walked out. Drove home and posted this thread. lmao

no no. oem is what you want. lots of the time a dealership will install cheap alternators. my work does the same thing, its not up to the tech, its all on the writer and parts guys. and also what they have in stock at the time. but ive replaced a few of the cheap aftermarket alternators 2 and 3 times on the same car. but you had yours replaced under warranty so it SHOULD be oem nissan.

Get a second opinion on your alternator from Autozone or Sears Auto Center. Have them check if the alternator is charging the battery.

I guess I should give a little history on my situation. About a few months ago my car wouldn't start, I tried starting it a few times but still wouldn't start. So I let it sit for a few minutes and then it started. I drove it home but I left it running. Went into the house and got my cousin (the fake a$$ mechanic). He suggested I cut the car off since it had been running for a while, after I cut it off it wouldn't start again. He said he thought it was the alternator. The next morning he gave me a jump and I drove it to the dealership. On my way to the dealership the car started stalling, jerking, and the lights started to blink. As soon as I got into the dealership parking lot the car cut off complete. I guess they ran a diagnostic test and that's when they told me that it was the alternator. They also said I needed a new battery.

Everything has been fine since then. However, for a while now I had noticed that my car wasn’t cracking like it should be. When I turned the key it hesitated a little before it cranked over. Not like it would if I needed atentator though. Last Friday night after getting home from work getting it wouldn’t start. My cousin (the fake $$ mechanic) gave me a jump. I should also mention I didn’t notice that hesitation I had been noticing. And then it happens again last night.

This is my theory on why my car isn’t starting. It takes me about 5 minutes to drive to and from the subway/metro parking garage in the mornings and in the evenings. I don’t think that’s enough time for the alternator to charge the battery seeing as though I needed a new battery a few months ago. How else can you explain why my car wouldn’t start last night but after getting a jump and allowing it to run for about an hour and a half? It started this morning after sitting over night.

Does anyone else know what it can be?

You need a new battery, If your alternator has been replaced with OEM one from nissan, you need a new battery. Same thing happened to me, I replaced my alternator a month ago and my car had been hesitating on start ups. Then i would have to turn again and then it would start. Replaced battery with Yellowtop(seeing as i have soundsystem), and the car starts up, very quickly if i may add. Like 1 second, and the car starts up.. Very quick response. So i'd try to get Redtop if i were you, and see how your car acts now. :-)

My family's been using diehards for a while they work great, for stock audio it's a fantastic battery.

I have a system in my car so I'm planning on getting an Optima battery but whats the difference between red and yellow top?

Yellow top is a deep cycle battery, best if you have a big stereo system or lots of neon lights and strobes. Red top is a starting battery with more cold cranking amps. I have the Red because Costco didn't have any Yellows at the time. I plan to do some stereo upgrades eventually, so I wanted the yellow.

First things first..............One summer evening I got into my car and it wouldn't start, so I pop the hood and see that my battery has a sh** load of acid around the terminals. I didn't have my terminal brush with me so I got a wet rag and a box-wrench and did a temporary fix..................and later I did the fix the right way. The reason I said this is, maybe all you have is a bad connection.

About the battery, later that night when I got home I took out my load tester and realized that not only was the battery gone,it was soft and hot!

So to make my not so long story shorter, my dad went down to costco and got me a new one.

Did you check your water level in the factory battery? Fill it up and see if it holds a charge. Some people swear by the old water filled batteries.

what is the number of the red top Optima at Costco, since they don't list a battery that is made for the Maxima. Optima even says that they don't have one made for the Maxima, I have a 2000se.

Fits perfectly with the OEM terminals, but you have to use the plastic extender tray for the battery clamp to fit right. It should come with the battery.

Mine is a Die Hard Gold, and is the same size as the OEM battery so it fits in the box without alteration.

@StL I30, the water level was ok I guess, I added about a 1 1/2 cups.

@irish44j, which diehard gold battery do you have or is there only just one? I know sears has about 100 different ones...

Best Battery buy

I resently had my alternator go and replaced with oem alternator. I shop around for a battery. I needed to save money to buy new tires. I went with a MTP-24F Interstate Battery. I paid $75 and it offered the most CCA of 800and 1000 CA which is really needed in PA.
