If I remove the OEM HID bulbs...whats the highest in K can I go to replace theM???
i know this is the color chart:
KELVIN SCALE COLOR DESCRIPTION:
4300K - BRIGHT WHITE (BRIGHTEST)
5000K - INTENSE WHITE
6000K - CRYSTAL WHITE
8000K - CRYSTAL BLUE
10000K - AQUA BLUE
12000K - BLUE-PURPLE
14000K - PURPLE
Would I have problems if I went with 12000k? Also is D2S & D2R the same size? And would I have any problems if bulbs I got were D2R?
*i have 02-03 headlights on my car
Thanks

you wouldnt have problems, only thing would be cops.....d2s and d2r are for different kind of headlights, one is for projector...d2r i think and the other is for regular set up like the 02 headlihgts. most here will say anything over 8000K is rice and output of lighting decreases...blah blah. blah but you should alreayd know that, if you just like the color go for it

K rating/color varies between companies.
Don't get 12000K. Might as well drive around with headlight covers.
I would recommend 6000K for both brightness/color. Higher you go, dimmer it gets.
You need D2R bulbs. D2R and D2S are different.

actually i'm thinking of doing 8000K - CRYSTAL BLUE (which i think is what mercedes or bmw uses)...so i guess from what u guys are saying i can go higher but it has to be D2R bulbs...right?

bmw and mercedes both use 4100k. the color you see is because their projector creates that purple lookin cutoff, so you see purple they see white. As for what you should get i say you should get 6000k but its your car so if you like the color then go 8000k.

i second that. 4100k is the oem color of all cars. 6000k is fine but personally i wouldnt even go beyond 5000k. you must get d2r's because putting in a d2s will create glare in a reflector housing.

d2s and d2r have the same bulb socket... the only difference is where you put the bulb in.

hope this helps nyautostyle...
inshort, not a lot of light output and a lot of glare.

For real though.. anything higher than 6000k ultinons is probably a bad investment for 3 reasons... light output, glare, and bulb quality. Phillips, Osram and Stanlely are the ONLY reputable companies that automakers use for their lighting systems. the highest kelvin that any of companies makes is PHillips' 6000k. Go to a japanese brand and you shouldn't expect the same quality.
