sorry i just wanted to post an let you all know i've been extremely busy doing last min. things to car since my friend basically bought a ticket & made me enter car into HIN....also my new work office opened so i'd been doing alot new stuff there....just wanted to let you all know i'll reply to posts or questions tomorrow or sometime during the week.

if you have technical or spec questions then call Mike @ UrbanImports in NC (919-383-4605) . all i can say is i'm still happy with my coilovers & the ride is bearable & i drive 40min each way to work....also for all the new GD, i can't vouch for any of those sellers b/c i only dealt with Mike @ UrbanImports & he was great & I know first hand b/c I need cust. service help & they were there. Also I researched before buying from this seller & he has good reputation. Theres other authorized dealers if your read www.nicoclub.org (sp?) that delayed customers 3+ months for coilovers & their cust. service was horrible. So hopely these GD's that are up aren't going thru those Dealers.

Hmmmm....... your initial statement was ride quality between Maxspeeds and H&R's. Have things changed and exactly what do you mean by bearable?

I can understand that. I cant imagine why it would cost any different to rebuild D2's than JIC's. If it DOES cost more, they are creating a bad business situation and it will steer people away from their product. Like you are saying, you wont buy if its ridiculous to rebuild them.

ehh at that price I'm better off with JIC Magics, or getting some custom stuff made by GC. I would need to compare D2s to my GC/Koni at 500/400lb springs in order to make a call on the D2s. I know what JICs are like.

whatz up fellas i've been long gone due to alot of personal $hit....

well i'd just like to fill you in that at first these coilovers were alittle bumpy ride but you just got to play with the dampness & i finanlly got it after 3 weeks to a very good ride with minium bumpy feeling....the car is extremely low & still rides great. one thing i want to mention is to make sure you tighten that coilover bolt under spring with that special wrench that comes with kit, otherwise it get lose & you'll hear metal clunking & you'll be like WTF is that. that only problem i had but that was easy fix installer should have looked over.

p.s. even though i like this coilover kit & love the look i'm selling them. sometimes in life you need to either choose girl (wife material) or car. in this case i love the girl too much to keep spending my money on my car. i plan on buying a house or townhouse & will supe that up

Ground Control- Advance Design, they use those on alot of race cars, currenty a BMW club racing favorite shock/spring, and they are not too expensive eighter. You can pick your own spring rates and Eibach makes their springs.

Ok, well this price looks real close (~$150) to just getting struts and springs while also solving my stereo sag in the rear.

Am I right to think that I could go with the recommended 5/7 spring combination and just adjust the height of the coilover in the rear so the car is level or would a stiffer spring in the rear be recommended as well? If a different spring how would I figure this out as on the stock suspension sags about 1.5" just from the stereo?

Can someone please write an in-depth review of these. I know that spring & strut combos are not perfect but the more I hear about the ride on any coilovers, the less I want them on my Max. "Bumpy ride" does not sound like a very attractive characteristic and often reminds me of Honduhs with cut stock springs bouncing down the road.

I run my maxima on Maxspeed & stock shock and 235-40-17 rubber and let me tell you that this set-up is very stiff, to most people it would be to harsh, so I dont expect the D2 to be worse than that. I was told that we should get the D2 in about 2 weeks so I'll let you know how it feel.

Cheers

Oh I didn't recognize them. Are these the same ones that have been out for a while or are the "Advance Design" GC's new? I heard that they have a stiff ride though.

doublea, Maxspeeds harsh?!?!? Don't know about you but my Maxspeeds and stock shocks are a very smooth ride. D2 coilovers will be rougher, guaranteed.

It could be the fact that you have 235/40 tires. That sidewall is pretty thin.

I am running 235/40/18's. No problems at all with Maxspeeds.

Maxspeeds and H&R's are the softest, most comfortable springs for the Maxima.

There is no problem with the maxspeed, but I put them on 2 years ago, so after 4 years running the stock shock it's time to go, also I wanted to have something adjustable ( lower in summer and higher in winter ) so the coilover was the route for me, I'll be switching to 18 x 8.5 with 265 or 275 in the back and 255 in the front next spring.

Cheers

doublea...isnt a 275 too wide for a 8.5 wide rim? i'm sure a 265/35/18 would fit but i still think thats pushing it on a 8.5 rim....isn't a 9 wide rim more suitable for this tire application? rim/tire gurus any input on this?

I have had Maxspeeds with stock shocks since Jan of 2003. Still no problems and ride is great. I have noticed with 4 people in the car the rear gets squishy and ride is "boaty" and wandering. I think the Maxspeeds are overloaded at that point.

I am looking for something new. I want to be lower but I want to keep the same Maxspeed/H&R ride quality. I was really looking forward to an in-depth review of these. Urbanimports is right down the road from me and I have the cash, but I am not going to drop $850 (or whatever the price is) for a hard-azz, track only ride. I don't want my family having kidney and back problems from riding in my car.

You are right 265 would make it, 275 should go on 9" plus rim, my mistake.

I will let you know how the D2 ride, Mike from Urban import called me yesterday or the day before to get my payment so I should have those pretty soon.
