I also called the vendor in NC to check on pricing and was quoted the same price w/o camber plates.

hmm, that's strange. i thought they should come standard with the aluminum tops that has camber adjustment. did he also give you a price with camber plates and if so, are they the pillowball mounts?

I can definetly beat that price if we get atleast 10 people on the deal. I need to double check on the camber plates though. Are there any 4th gen folks interested in these?

Wow, I hope the price is somewhat close to $600, considering how broke I am right now.

Ok

There are some questions that need to be answered for me that I have yet to see a "formal" answer on.

1) Is the stock suspension travel retained? Looking for more of a response from Max4Speed as he is "selling" them.

2) What spring rates will get you close to "stock" feeling...and which springs rate would be good for "spirited" driving. Not kidney bleeding but tighten the ol Max up a tad. More BMWish...(no it wont drive like a BMW)

3) Are these direct plug and play? Meaning I can compress the spring, pull off the three bolts on the strut hat, two or so bolts on lower mounting and remove the stock and put the D2's on the exact way I took off the stock? Reason for me asking this, is that I want a firmer suspension, but not to the point of exotic sports car as that will make the Max squeek and moan bad. At that point, I would have to sell these and be out alignment money.

4) Where would you get these serviced at in the US? An earlier post said that it would be better to replace a cartridge than rebuild....seein as we dont know the longevity of the product, it would be nice to find out servicablity and associated cost.

Thanks in advance!

Ahhh good questions Colonel. I would be concerned about having my car down or incapacitated for a while when a coilover blows and have to wait for a new one or service.

I would let others answer those questions as I have not done much research on these coilovers. I can definitely carry out the GD at great price and get some answers on the warranty question.

LOL, kinda hard for me right now...I am in Belgium for a while...lol.

If Max4Speed can answer the warranty questions, that would be a good start though. And Ill wait for the spring rate from you K Pazzo.

These coilovers look good, but I would be more concerned with ride quality. They might be awesome for the track but the Maxima is a FWD family sedan. I would like to be able to drive over NYC roads and not have to see a doctor for internal bleeding.

I am worried about the exact same thing and i was thinking that with the 3.5 and 5 combination along with a 36 way adjustable shock something smooth riding has to come out of this setup.

Talked to the NC distributor today. 3 sets due in another month. Can air freight them for another $125.

Spring rates are the delema. 9/7 is supposed to be very firm. probably something like a 7/5 or 6/5 for a smooth ride, but this is a guess. First number is front/rear = less weight in rear usually calls for lower spring rate

Does anybody know what Catt's CO spring rates are? How about the stock spring rates?

Springs are $20 ea.

In all of the stuff you guys posted from other forums, has anybody been running them for awhile?

You can use this TEIN chart to get an idea as to what the 9/7, 7/5, etc spring rates translate to lbs/in
http://www.tein.com/nissan.html

I can't remember where I saw the specs on the stock SE springs. Maybe someone else can fill in that blank.

For reference purposes, here are the specs on the TEIN H-Tech and S-Tech springs.
H Front-3.2k,179#/in, Rear-5.1k,285#/in
S Front-3.6k,201#/in, Rear-4.8k,268#/in

Quick conversion
9=503#
7=392#
6=336#
5=280#

I MIGHT be interested in this system, but not with springs over 5/4.

Mike

Thanks Michael,
But these rates show a higher rate for the rear. The distributer in NC said the higher rate went in front, and that made sense as he explained it.
Still as you load passengers in the back seat and suitcases in the trunk, it would make sense that the higher rate would go in the back. Keep in mind that these guys say they have been a distributor for 6 months and have yet to get a set in for the Maxima. but based on the numbers you posted a 5/4 OR 4/5 (higher rear) would be plenty.
Problem is that this is all guess work at this point. Might need to get on some Asian forums to see what they are doing.

I'm glad someone else see's it like me. Unless you are tracking/autox/other serious beating on the car, you just don't need a 9/7 for daily use. Face it, most of us would do this for looks/even drop(even for different tires on the same car), or an OCCASIONAL track day. Plus for us family guys carrying capacity for luggage and two nearly grown kids is vital, so the 4/5 makes sense. Since no other Max has this setup I am really cautious. Don't want to be a $900 test mule. I would have to ride in a car with these first.

Hi everyone, my name is Michael and I am the owner of Urban Import (US Distirbutor for D2 Racing Sport). As stated in earlier in this thread we have 3 sets of 95-99 Maxima and 3 sets of 00+ Maxima on the way. Once we have had customers test and review the setup we will start a group buy. I will post some more details on the setup when I get into the office tomorrow.
