I got a new car!

Well, not new new, but newer than my 90 maxima. well i am now the proud owner of a 2002 maxima. Its majestic blue with frost interior. the exact combo which i was looking for.

it was a recent addition to the nissan dealership so i made an appointment with the AAA rep there (flashed my AAA Headquarters employee badge and made sure i mentioned i knew the public affairs dept. Director). Took it for a test drive and fell in love. It didn't have two things that i was hoping it would: leather and sunroof, but everything else is just how i imagined.

It had only 26k on the dial. Initially i was just coming in to do research and see how much a car would cost me. i already had a loan that just has to be finalized but once again i was just researching. never intended on buying a car. then he presented me with the price 17,888 and after think it over for 10 mins i decided to go ahead and buy it. The car is certified for 6 years or 100,000 miles for the powertrain and also i'm still cover under the original warranty up to i believe 2 more years and until the car reaches 36k.

I'm really excited. On monday i finalize the loan and hopefully i receive the check the same day but as a safety i told them i would pick it up on Tues after work.

But thats my story. I plan to keep the car stock with only minor exceptions (Strut bar and Clear exterior reflectors). i just want to enjoy my car and be happy that all those long hours at work finally paid off. Thanks for taking the time to read.

Congrats and welcome to the 5th Gen family. Is the car an auto or manual? Sounds like a really nice color combo. Good luck with all the details and post some pics once you pick it up.

Congrats. But you should really invest in a Berk Intake. Heard good things about it.

One thing you may want to do this weekend while you're washing it to clean up the back would be to shave off the dealer stickers on the deck lid and maybe even the "Maxima" and "SE" emblems. Car looks really nice, congrats.

To compare

yea i was looking at the sticker when i was taking one of the back pictures. any clue as to how i should take it off so that it won't leave a gluey residue?

For the latex dealer sticker, you should be able to simply peel it off with your fingernail and use some Goo-Gone (found at AutoZone) to clean up the adhesive. If you decide to shave the "Maxima" and "SE" emblems, you can use waxed dental floss and slide it between the emblem adhesive and the trunk lid and once again, use the Goo-Gone to clean up the left over adhesive residue. A lot of guys use a hair dryer to heat up the adhesive prior to using the floss. I found that you can eliminate the hair dryer step and it still works fine.

Quick question. Are you sure the car isn't a 2k3? The taillights look different (you have the little stripe between the upper and lower part of the lights). I was under the impression that was one of the minor (and i emphasize minor) changes between the 2k2 and 2k3. Just curious. In either case you'll love the car as most of us do.

Who are you asking? That picture is not the car he bought, it was just a comparison for debadging. The second picture is SEmy2K2go's car, presumably.

If you go to Freaknificent's homepage, the pic of his car shows the rectangular light between the top and bottom portions of the taillight. I believe its the same car.

i used to wonder the same thing, but i'm pretty sure that i've seen that stripe on my 2k2 when the lights are on. though, i could have just been imagining it.
