Here we go again...Lease is ending

Hey Guys, it's been a while since I posted, I've been working hard all summer.

I have a modded 2k1 AE Auto, my lease is comming to an end soon, so I'm thinking what should I do, my car is running fine but like anyone here I would like it to be faster.
1- I can buy it and put a turbo or S/C and many more mods, but still it remain auto.
2- Buy a 2002 -2003 with stick and have more power but will that make me more happy than my 2k1
3- Buy a 2004, I think it look like dad's car, so this one is not for me
4- Buy a POS for the winter and save all the money I can to buy a dream car next spring ( M5 )

I've been over some M5 forum lately , and it look like the M5 is often in the garage, what do you guys think.

Cheers

Umm well, I gues the initial question is; are you happy with your car? If so, and dealership doesn't attempt to rape you when you try and buy it, I'd say keep it, and keep modding. Then again if you're going to have the cash to fork over for an M5, then disregard what I said earlier

BMW definitely isn't the best car in the world if you're worried about repair work. They do have more problems than Japanese imports, and the parts/service is much more expensive. However, if you maintain them, they will last. My best friend from TX just bought a brand new Accord coupe last night. He has had an '86 325 since high school, and it's still running. Fun cars, but if you can't afford the maintenence then don't get it. If you really want a fun car, check out the M3 as well. It's about 20-30K less (still $50K) but what a machine.

Bimmers are sweet, but the maintenance cost on them is to say the least. Then again, if you could afford an M5 then

For shure I Iike my car, I think what I want is to mod the hell out of it, and I know I will have to work hard for quite a while, first to raise the dough and second to install all the mods I want. Let see, I want more power and I dont want to spend all my week-end fixing the car, and that why I guess I'm confuse between the idea of buying a better faster car or rebuilt it like the dream car I want. I guess I need to evaluate how much it's going to cost me to built it the way I want, let see if you guy can help me:

I first start with a solidely rebuilt 5 speed tranny transplant (5000$) ( I'm fed up with the auto ), clutch, flywheel, Tranny cooler and whatever it take, I want something solid (1800$).

New 19" x 8.5 or 9 ( 2000$ ) if it can be fit with 4 x 255 or 265/35 ( 1600$) without rubbing.
I need new shock, KYB AGX (500$) or do I go Coilover (2000$) RSB (200$)? I like stiff suspension but not to much, the car has to be confortable also. The brake, I want the real stuff I want this car to brake like a champ. There is a bit of rust inside the hood, so it need to be repaint, and the Nissan paint is crap so I'd go for CF Hood ( 500$ ), anyway the car need to be repaint ( 3000$), I want something really cool like a custom paint ( 1500$ ). I need a spoiler kit (1000$ ) new grills, ( 300$ ) 2K2 HID.(1200$)

Now lets get serious, I want power, maybe we can rebuilt the engine (5-6000$), and or add a Turbo( 5000$) or S/C ( 4000$) with all the gages ,electronics, injectors, gaz pump, regulator and so on (2500$), with of course a real dual exhaust set-up ( 1800$ ). I want more power but I dont want to spend all my spare time programming stuff and spending week-end figuring out what wrong months after months, I'm willing to invest some time but not my life, this way you see the big picture. It's not over, I want a Navigation system ( 1500$), a better sound system (2500$), new carpet and some cosmetics (500$) maybe better seats ( 3000$ )

I just did a rough estimate, but if my calculation are good, that would run me around 38400$ CDN or around 27000$ US. That make a nice deposit on many possible car ( Mercedes, Bimmer's, Jag or Porsche ) that I may not have considered in the past. I have a 600$ monthly allocation plus I can easily afford to put an extra 3-400$ a months. Thanks for sharing comments, I appreciate your input.

Oops, I forgot to calculate the Big Brake kit (3000$) so it raise the total to 41400$ CDN or 30000$ US.

Am I crazy or is it just the middle age crisis.

Well if you put $30,000 into your Maxima as you described, you would have one bad mother funkin car. Of course $30,000 goes a long way towards a nice, new car....

I'd buy a cheap car for the winter, and save up money for a new car next year. There are some nice cars coming out in the next year.

doublea, not to talk you out of what you are trying to do, but just like I said to one .org member 10 min ago, if you want to be a racer get a go-kart. I assume you're a middle-aged man that can afford US $1000/mo car payments. Then you will look much better in M3, M5, S4, RS6, whatever you choose to own rather then a souped up Maxima. Good luck with your crisis lol.

Leased and modded??

You sure Nissan isn't going to penalize you for modding your car? I thought on leases, you couldn't do anything to it since the car is technically not owned by you. I could be wrong.

If I decide to not keep it, than I would have to put it back stock, I 've kept all the original part exept the muffler and the wheel, it doesn't bother me I can just buy a set of use 2k1 wheel and muffler, no big deal. To my point as long as the car is in my garage then I do what I want with it an pay whatever I have to at the end of my lease, I learn that we have to pay for playing.

Cheers

Well, I want a supermodel, preferrably 5'10", 115lbs, blond or brunette no preference, $20,000 boob job, has to be able to speak english well enough for me to overstand, a annual salary of at least $350k, blah, blah, blah.....

but seriously do what makes you happy, you only live once(well, except for maybe Elvis)if its either driving a bad-a$$ modified Maxima or an expensive German car. My choice would be a new car, nothing like a new car and a supermodel in the passenger seat

It practically never makes sense to purchase a car off lease, unless you can get the lease company to significantly lower the buy-out price.

That, and you're adding x number of years that you're making payments on a car that is probably out of warranty.

Dumping an extra $30k into a depreciating asset is another matter altogether.

probably you better of with a new max or 2k3 model? and get the stick shift as you always wanted to do with your AE.

but the choice is yours.
put it this way.
2k3 or 2k4 model.
- new car waranty
- 0 or low mileage
- stick shift is readily available.
- or get a FX35, 35k will get you one of this.

DAMN man, all of that stuff... that sounds like pcgurus car you want to build there.

Honestly, you have the money, get a g35 coupe, then mod it with stillen's stuff when it's available. You get A) alot of 'what' you want, (looks, performance, stick, handling), and you can mod it later when you get tired of how it performs.

30 grand on the maxima go for it, but as you said, your embarking on a very consuming hobby that will probably take all of that money, and some. Also if you figure time is money.

Get the g35, or the FX!!!

Hey guys, I made my mind during the week-end, after I visited 2 bimmer's dealer friday, I didn't like their attitude and the way they handle customers perhaps they though I was looking for a free ride, when the pots and pan salesman ask me what I was looking for, I just told him a M3 or M5 used ( 2k or 2k1 ), he almost laugh at me, and answer me you know young man a M3 Bimmer is 70 000$, ( he was 34 and I'm 42 ) he also add that maybe I would need a back-up signature for the loan, lol what a moron. I was like what the fok, I just couldn't believe, I though Bimmer salesmans would be the classy type, my wife couldn't believe the general attitude of the guy and walked back in the car. When I start to ask questions about pricing and option, he start asking if I would sign right away if he make me a deal, I was like cmon sell me the car first, ask me for a ride or something make me want to sell my maxima asap. Finally I walked out very disapointed. Fok them all, I'm keeping my max
and going to save more money this fall and winter, and put some serious power next spring.

Thanks for your comments and help.

Cheers

Here in Vegas you can be a 18 year old blonde chic and walk in to a Porsche dealership and be treated like gold. Reason being, those strippers get what they want cause the stupid @$$ sugar daddy is paying for it.

You would be amazed at the amount of young hotties driving expensive cars here.

Salesman sounds like a jerk, however, don't let that sour you on a car you want. go somewhere else....
personally I think dropping close to 30K into a Maxima is a stupid idea. 30K is more than the cost of the car new. and when all is said and done its still a maxima. I love my Max but come on.... your buyout is probably around 15-20 + 30 for the mods now you have 45K sunk into a car you couldn't get 25 for. Get something newer and nicer an 03 max or an infiniti or a Bimmer... and if you're unsure, buy a beater and wait.

Whenever I encounter this type of attitude (dealerships, clothes stores, etc.), I always have one question which I often pull out when I have had it with these people...

"If you are sooo good, why is it you need to work here doing this?"

Tends to shut them up.
