UDP Install Help

Hey everyone,

Tried to install my UR pully this weekend. I have a 2K1 Auto. Does anybody have the instructions from the service manual on the proper way to remove the crank pully? If you have it in a .pdf, that would be great. I tried with my impact wrench, and had no luck budging the bolt. I soaked it with liquid wrench, still nothing. So I tried the starter one, hesitantly, as I do not like that way of removing something. So I blipped the starter, and proceded to crack the side of the impact socket. So I have found a shop that says they can do it, but I would really like to have the factory service page before hand. Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Which reminds me to ask, is there a way to lock up the flywheel on an auto. like a little access plate (which reveals the flywheel teeth) on the bell housing???

I have removed both with the started method and an impact wrench. However I had one that would not even budge, I could hold the starter and it would just torque the engine also tried with a 650 lb torque wrench and still not go. Finally had to heat the bolt with a torch and it came off.

It all depends on who put it on last and if they used loctite or if never taken off, some are just VERY stubborn.

I'm probly gonna install my UDP this afternoon with a buddy of mine. I got the directions from STUDMAN's website, they seem like perfect instructions, just reading over them here at work. Any other advice though would be great for helpin my thru the install.... How long would you expect it to take following the writeup studman did? seems the only thing i have to worry about is getting a bolt or two off...

Putting the automatic transmission in gear won't keep the crankshaft from rotating. You have to open the access panel and prevent the flywheel from rotating somehow. See bigdo26's other thread and/or search if you can.

I went to home depot and bought a CH impact wrench, $25. I tried one day and could not get it to budge, even soaking it in liquid wrench. Second attempt worked by soaking, and then heating with propane torch to get the flange on the bolt to expand. Then impact wrench, and came off smoooth. I tried the starter thing, and think it is too dangerous, as my socket split (Impact) doing it!

Best of luck, and yes mine is an auto!
