Anyone Have First-Hand Knowledge RE: These Tails?
I was recently reading/participating in a separate discussion related to tail-lights and these were mentioned.
http://www.carid.com/1999-nissan-max...ro-259916.html
They look nice but am curious if they really are nice.

^^^ go to manufacturer's website and they also show these ... LEDs.

That other thread I mentioned above was a request for input related to where to obtain LEDs.
Not sure where/who markets these on retail basis and what the cost is, but the manufacturer says they're available.

i have these taillights, But once I put the inners in, they were sticking out a bit.. so i put the old inners back in and the new clear outers, they look perfectly fine, I like it.
I have pictures for with the whole new clear set on and with the clear outers and old inners.

They aren't LED housings, just euro clears. Different design housing. New look I guess but I feel like any tails you search for are either stupid expensive or aren't around. Regardless of them being shown as in stock, they may not have any or made them in years. Worth a shot because I don't know if anyone tried to order them.

and by the way I bought these Taillights from CarID about 6 months ago for the exact same price, 137$, same link.. They still make them but they keep a limited amount of them.. probably 10-15 in stock. It shipped within a week I believe if not a little less.
CarID is fairly popular for aftermarket car parts, so I dont see why they wouldn't have these in stock, but again probably make few of them.. its all about what sells alot, what sells here and there..supply and demand.
let me get the pictures for you turbo.

Full set of CarID Clears-as you can see the inners are a bit brighter, the reverse lights are noticeably more white..and have a black trim around the taillights.
I only had these for a couple hours and have a few pictures of them.. I changed out the inners almost immediately cause of them sticking out a bit, didn't want water going in there and burning out the harnesses
Old inners and CarID outer clears, the inners on the old have a little "shade" to it so that it's not too bright but in my opinion...
I think the old inners and clear outer look fine and a tad bit better to me.. At-least in person view, It looks meaner in a way when the inners are a little "darker" than the Super bright white CarID inners, atleast from my view.
u can't really tell if it has old inners and new outer. If you want the full set, your gonna have to trim the new inner for them to shut, also the black trim around the taillights do not appear on the inners..

Those second gen clears are long gone. Very rare these days.
Regular red/clears are dime a dozen though. Often less than $100 shipped on eBay.
For the inners sticking out, there is some modification that can be done to get them to sit flush. Search on the subject and you'll likely find what I'm talking about.

I bought clears off eBay first, but when I recieved it I got the driver side outer taillight cracked pretty hard, was unusable ... Didn't want to return it cause I would only get 30% (25$) back so I said whatever.. Some eBay sellers don't care and just take the $.. Later I found that the reviews of the seller had issues sending out cracked taillights to some buyers, disappointing but yeah..atleast I got a extra spare set of these execpt the drivers outer..kinda my fault for not reading the reviews, even though he had a lot
So I had to order it from CarID cause they most likely won't send anything cracked as they got to keep their reputation good

Years ago the consensus was that the "foggy" red/clears with the little rhombus corner marker on the signals were the preferred choice. Probably the best alternative if you can still find them as they only sold the outers and they matched the OE inners. The ones currently found on eBay and the like are a little different.
There was a thread regarding the diamond cut red/clear tails when they were first introduced. Those were pretty ugly on the 4G didn't suit the car at all.
***EDIT***
Cracked tails were somewhat common even on the old Custom Enterprise/Custom Maxima units.

Because its stock. Thats why. Plus the amber turn signal is just plain ugly. Like the amber bumper lights in front, the op replaced those already.
I got the smoke ones last year on ebay for $60 something. Like others said, the inners didn't sit flush. 10 minutes with a dremel and they sit perfect now,
