New CV Axel

New CV Axel
I have a 1995 Maxima and need to replace the drivers side CV axle. I see that I have two choices in axles...one for a limited slip differential...and one for a car without a limited slip differential. How do I find out if my car has a limited slip differential or not? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

You would have to check the model number of the tranny that is located on the left side firewall under the hood on the silver plate. I forgot which letter it is that tells you what type of tranny you have but search around and you will find it.

You are wrong dude. The vast majority of 5spd Maximas are open diff. Most LSDs are actually autos. In Canada manual LSDs are common though. I have an open diff manual.
The VIN plate on the firewall includes the Transmission code.
RS5F5OA=5MT open
RE4FO4A=AT open
RS5F5OV=5MT VLSD
RE4FO4V=AT VLSD
Passenger side axle is same between ALL transaxles, and drivers side is different between all i believe.
