99 maxima transmission slips out of gear

Bought a 99 Maxima that needed a transmission, Had the transmission replaced with a used one. worked fine for 3 months. Couple weeks ago the trans started acting up. The trans will drop out of gear when I stop at light or stop sign when the car is hot (works fine the first 3-4 min when cold). The RPM rises from about 700 to about 1200 then drops to 600 and get out of gear (trans in neutral like). If I press the gas it will jump back into gear very harshly at about 1300 RPM. If I put the shifter in position 2 the car will take off fine, it also works normal in reverse. I was told that it had a bad trans valve body, so I bought one for $400 and replaced it. The car still doing the same thing. Looking for help with identifying the issue, could be the TCM? any idea, suggestions?

I might say if there are no codes and it's shifting fine in gears. The clutches or disc bands might be on there there way out. This causing the car to slip with less friction to grasp. I would prefer more info on the car codes and so on. Does the DR pressure line works and is the fluid in good color and in the fluid level on line. The shifting points kick or not kick.

/\ agreed. Check your fluid first but it sounds like you got a trans that's on its way out. I just replaced my 175K mile auto on my 95 earlier this month. Started having these symptoms and they progressed in about 3 weeks to not having gears 2,3, and 4.

No trouble codes, no check engine light, fluid if full and clean (just relaced it with the valve body)

thanks for all the replies. Niot sure if the convertor was changed with the used trans. I do not think so. someone told me it could be line pressure low. How do I check that/ and why is it only on "D". When I place the trans in "2" it engages and takes off fine., reverse is fine too.

Thanks again
