$10.00 ebay knock sensor
EDIT;
Today, 04/19/15, I scanned my car for no good reason and found the KS code. Pulled the KS and it tested bad with Infinite resistance between pin 2 and ground. The resistor is back in indefinitely.

I just received my eBay knock sensor in the mail from vendor 1729mily.
It shipped from china, but is marked Japan with a Nissan burger emblem. The markings are as follows;
7X13 UNISIA JECS JAPAN (BURGER) ***-600 M01
Thanks to Maxima_Joe for the $6.00 sub harness. I ordered both Sunday night, received the harness Saturday, and the KS Monday.

hmmm I am a little skeptical on the "nissan logo and part numbers"... pretty much the Chinese civilization now can duplicate absolutely everything that there is in this worlds... but hell give it a try... if it works it works... I remember replacing the knock sensor on my 4th gen about 6 years and it took me about 15 min... I was able to do it without removing the upper manifold

I have the mod as well and make sure I always use prem to lessen any knock. Also stop buying junk off Ebay. Worst mistakes I have ever made. Everything I bought off ebay thats a knockoff has been a complete failure.

eBay does not always equal junk. JECS is a Japanese company with plants in china. A co-op between Bosch Gmbh and Hitachi, I believe they are an OEM supplier. This KS is either the real deal, or an outright counterfiet. I'm leaning towards OEM.

I bought 2 off of ebay from Chandler Motor Sports, they were the cheapest at the time (their prices seem to vary day to day - currently 7.99), 1 for each of my Maximas (95 and 97). Both were throwing KS codes that wouldn't go away when cleared from memory.
The 97 was melted, the 95 was cracked. Replaced both (the 95 was easier as the EGR Solenoid wasn't in the way), reset the computer and the codes haven't returned and like many on here, feel a gain in acceleration and a gain in response.
Even if they only last 2 years, replacing them won't be a hassle and there is no guarantee a more expensive one would have lasted longer.

yes it does. Anything not OEM is pure junk unless it is something that isn't stock for your car normally like Stillen... I have experience in this. Bought dozens of stuff off Ebay, all junk.

had my ebay KS for a year and works perfectly fine. saved me a lot of money in the long run. its ok you think its junk but some people like saving money.

perhaps bad luck? iv had pretty good luck with most the stuff iv purchased off fleabay, for example my ks i check frequently and i see no sign of melting, been in the valley for a year now. also cured my pesky ks cel.

Well scanned my car for no good reason and found the KS code. Pulled the KS and it tested bad with Infinite resistance between pin 2 and ground. The resistor is back in indefinitely.

My 1998 SE had the CEL code for KS when I bought it recently. The KS harness wires were actually broken off right at the connector on the KS side, so I didn't want to risk trying to fix it, getting bloody in the process and have to go through it all again if the KS itself turned out bad.
Needless to say, the car ran like it had about 80HP because I had to baby the throttle all the time or it hesitated severely. So I bought a $13 KS w/harness from eBay and installed it... yes, it did require a small amount of blood, lol.
All the talk of cheap KS's has me worried, because the car is greatly improved but still hesitates a bit over 4000RPM.
asand1, do you have a post that shows how to make that resistor mod?
What I want to do is test the new KS by making the resistor mod with my old harness, then I can swap the harnesses and see the difference.
Yes, I always use 92 or higher octane.

The new KS alone did make a HUGE improvement, but yes now I'm thinking there's another thing causing the hesitation. My list:
1. The spark plugs looked good so I cleaned them, but I've got a new set to put in.
2. New fuel filter (done).
3. New air filter (done).
4. Clean the MAF (done).
5. Seafoam (done today).
6. Check the coils (still to do).
I've had it up over 100 several times, the hesitation is only when accelerating.
