Short ram resting in box

I installed a Sri the other day, I decided to leave the bottom of the box in so the cone filter could rest in it and get air produced from the stock scoop. Are there any disadvantages to doing this? There is a picture of it in my photos

i dont know if that will cause any improvement. when youre driving air is going to be coming in from the front anyway.

I did the same thing. Seems to fit fine for me, too lazy to take out rest of box.

But you don't think it touching the sides of the box will cause restricted airflow?

Stock airbox>SRI

Ghetto airbox mod the stock box with a quality filter seems to be the best thing out there for our cars

All it is, is a Sri that happens to have the bottom of the box... It's not some complex contraption

Just leave it as is. In or out of the lower box makes no difference.

eBay filter = Spectre filter.

I installed a Place Racing CAI and man does it growl....without the top or bottom portion the airbox......I think I need to upgrade to a larger TB, install IM spacers, install E3 plugs (experiment), Hi Flo Cat, and a JWT ecu! I'll see even more throttle response, and torque thru that VQ30DE with those added bolt-ons Imo....Power is there but I'm working on that lowend torque area of the VQ30 or am I just spoiled by the VQ35 of my 5.5th Gen?

if you leave it in the box it wont do anything different then if you took the box out. but the snorkle wont work as well because theres no vacum in the box to suck the air through the snorkle, so all it will do is re direct air to the box

thought itd help because i havent seen anyother coments on the snorkle, only the box.
