I preech it all the time. Snow tires will reduce you chances are from sliding off into the ditch. I drive trucks for a living and i've driving in every weather condition and i've seen it all. Car in the ditch, facing the opposite direction on the highway, car slidding into each and name it.
I got winter tires since i've had my first car and I doubt i'll ever drive another car with all seasn tires. Nothing frustrates me more than wanting to go somewhere but you're stuck in the freezing cold digging your car out of snow

I'm the opposite - got my last set of brand new steelies for $157 delivered. Every car I've ever owned has had dedicated snows. Snow tires will usually last 6+ yrs if cared for and they don't dry rot first.

bah, we have front wheel drive. i never have an issue in snow, only ice and bad rain. no abs??? i thought all cars came with that after 1990. i almost rear ended someone last night on a dry road but my abs kicked on and saved me again.

Unfortunately for the 4th gens, ABS was still optional. The broader tires along with downshifting in ice/slush conditions help out a lot.

Last year I had some all seasons and my car didn't stop go or turn it just made alot of noise.
Front wheel drive does help out but my cars pretty low so without snows I think I would have been stuck for sure the snow was already up to my fogs
Used up blizzaks FTMFW!

snow tires are indeed awesome. i was having fun friday night while most people on all seasons were tooling around @ 7mph or just not going anywhere period.
last year when we got the 22" blizzard i was loving it. took back roads all the way home because every highway was at a dead stop. there was no one out there in my way and it was awesome.
snow tires are just like slicks - you can probably get by without them, but after you have them and discover how bad *** they are, you will never go without them again.
