new design for 4th gen motor mount

i was talkin to butch at courtesy nissan, the passenger side front mount, ( belt side) was re-designed to help with easing the weight from other mounts thus helping weight dispersion when accelerating. i ordered one, 148.00, you have to buy new screws to go with it. im anxious to see it.

I was also gonna get this mount at the dealer but I had some other expenses.. from what the local dealer told me is that most of the 4th gen mounts were superseeded as well as the bolts.

I keep going through idiotzone manual trans mounts, it only holds up for a month and then I have to go buy a new one and return the old one cuz its an order part only. Running on a JY trans mount and I'm just gonna try to get my money back and pick one up at the dealer instead.

It's made of steel instead of aluminum, and it's basically the same thing as a 5 & 5.5 gen mount, just grab one from the wrecker for an 02/03 and you will usually end up with a nice condition mount.

you got that from courtesy? Looks like a flimsy ebay mount to me. Plus it's black. Are mounts from the dealer black now, all of them?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they got it from the same supplier as the cheap ebay junk and marked it up a ton. Those ebay mounts have always looked like that. Very disappointed with courtesy right now.
Just to make sure, what part number is it? It came in a sealed NISSAN bag with nissan tags and everything right?

well, put her in, looks ok i guess. seems pretty sturdy, its a dampening mount so they redesigned the rubber insert to better move with the engine. ill post pics when it decide's to stop raining.

I don't know why I'm bumping thing except that I feel that it should be pointed out that the old mount appears to be aluminum and the new "cheap ebay" ones appear to be made out of steel. Wouldn't they be thinner for that reason? Does anyone have 5 or 5.5G mounts to post for comparison?

I'm probably putting new ones in a 1995 SE.

Yes, one is aluminum and the other steel.

The issue that I am having, and have risen this thread from the grave was not about that point. Since the aluminum ones are far and few between, and to use the more abundantly available steel mounts, I (and you) would need to swap out the hardware in the mount bolted to the timing cover as the threads do not line up right with the thinner mount.

So hopefully Max Ride 41, or another org'er can give a bit more detail on their experience.

Once you get a new mount installed or decide what to do with the old one, you might want to look into a torque bracing bar. I love the one that's installed on the 99 SE 5MT. Also, I can tell it is saving the engine mounts.

Here's a thread on the topic below.

Any Nissan brands on it? Looks like some afftermarket crap! But those 2 vertical blocks on the middle elastomeric portion is new in the design...I would fill the voids with 3M Window Weld now while it's out and let it cure for about 2 days in the sun!

it's a nissan mount that i got from courtesy as i stated in earlier post. i did'nt save the bag it came in and this thread is 5 years old+. if you want the original mount you can go to a j/y as stated and throw new polyurethane bushings in.

You swapped the hardware though? The bolt, i mean so it would accommodate the steel vs the aluminum height? how did you go about the swap of those? Vice grips/thread locker?

You do need the bolt to replace the mount completely. Be advised if you are doing the tranny mount, it was also redesigned as well and is no longer aluminum and will need to reorder 4 new bolts.
