O ok. I guess I've never really looked at the bumper I just assumed the grill was the only difference.

isnt the urethane stillen lip more durable? I thought the ID lip cracks/breaks apart if you scraped it. Isnt urethane like a really hard rubber and FRP like fiberglass?

you can get carbon fiber for like 750 for the whole kit. much more durable than urethane and you dont have to paint it. so its cheaper

how is it more durable? CF is basically just a weave pattern on top of fiber glass. Correct me if im wrong.

Yeah but it's a weave of fibers of carbon, it adds significant strength, and not much cost, it's clearing it that adds that.

a cf shell over fiberglass isn't gonna add THAT much strength. a full cf on the overhand...

i have the ID frp lip for my 97 and i must say i am surprised it has not cracked. ive been almost positive the thing will crack many times. Ive taken this lip to the road at as much as possibly a 40 degree angle and it hasnt cracked. thats a pretty steep angle imo. i mean it could be the way i have it mounted, but nonetheless, i am very satisfied with the lip.

The CF used in aftermarket applications such as the hoods, trunks and etc. is a thin layer of CF applied on top of the FG. It doesnt give it any more strength then what another layer of FG would. They are mearly for aesthitic purposes. All companies are like this. Ionicdynamics parts are a big step above the other because of the top notch quality of the resins Jose uses, which give a lasting and non fading shine.

The FRP is actually a Fiber Reinforced Plastic, which is way more flexible and forgiving then just an ordinary FG part.
When Jose first introduced the FRP parts, he posted these pics...

So in my eyes, just a good as the Stillen item, but at a better price. Also, for what its worth, those of you concerned about the lip being able to flex if bumped just becasue the lip doesnt get destroyed which is a big plus dont forget the paint will be. So your best bet is to just be as carefull with the item as possible whether its flexible or not.

with lip kits its not just about tensile strength. rigidity, or flexibility rather, plays a huge roll in durability. stiff construction like fg or cf will crack because it has no give. frp or urethane will flex under pressure, and are therefore better suited for aero applications.

I didnt try and flex this part that far, but it does have plenty of give to its construction. A+
