Anyone else had a front strut insulator tear?

For the past couple weeks I had noticed a fairly strong thump coming from the front side passenger suspension. I dissassembled the suspension tonight and found the entire rubber insulator torn from it's metal mount which now allows it to move around on bumps. Anyone replaced this part? How much?

Dave are your referring to the front strut mounts? If you are, I bought one for around $55 dollars and the other one for $34. Both were OEM, the second dealer I went to gave me a discount when I told them that I was a member of Maxima.org.

If its that.... mine have torn off a long time ago

I believe the insulator is the thing that goes on the spring to keep the coils from rubbing together. Here's a site with pictures and part numbers http://kcmaximas.org/tech/suspension/.

The piece DaveB is talking about IS called the "strut mount insulator." It's seperate from the strut mount. The mount is the plate with the bolts attached to it. The insulator sits on top of the mount... it's the round piece you can see from under the hood.
And yeah, if it's broke it will cause a very ugly thump whenever you hit a good bump.

I guess it won't be too expensive for DaveB to replace since he can get parts easily...

I drove around on a broken one for about 2 months before replacing it. Didn't seem to hurt anything... just annoying.

Dave, PLEASE stay OEM. I've heard horror stories about the KYB ones.
