evap vent control valve help needed
I have the code for the evap control valve, so I bought part number 149303M201 for 95-98. It looks nothing like my old one as you can see in the pics. Anyone know what part number I really need? Doesnt make much sense unless I am entirely wrong on what the control valve is...

I just replaced mine too. Actually the whole box and the valve. I have a 96 and my new one did not look like your new one. You got the wrong part. Unfortunately I threw out the packaging by now, so I dont know the part number.

Ok, I called the stealership here...this is the p/n they gave me.
5493354U00 cost of $107.
Sounds like the part. Not 100% sure since I wasnt able to look at the drawing with them (which is what I did when I ordered the part).

cool thanks for your help.
I cant seem to find that part number when I search here. http://www.nissandealer.com/jerry-ro..._home_page.cgi
they also have a picture to check out, but it isnt very detailed. I think I ordered the right part, according to the picture anyway... might have just been sent the wrong one I guess.

CPVCSV valve
glass88jaw - The part you received is the correct new CPVCSV valve, part # 14930-3M201. The part you actually took off may be part of the EVAP system. Did you take it off from under the left rear wheel well? Anyway, Look under your hood at the firewall, look where the VIN# is stamped. Towards the end of that come out about a fist width and you will see an aluminum part that looks very similiar to the new one you have. It should be a brown color where the electrical connect is. Two bolts secure it to the intake manifold, and there are 2 vacuum lines, along with an electrical connector. I had to get my new one from the stealer for $221.00 bones! Plus you have to get the adapter plate for another $9.50 because of the bolt holes. I actually installed mine just by bolting only one side in until I get the adapter plate that had to be special ordered. The new one has a number stamped on the end E9T170 90 or 92 at the end. The old one says E9T170 73.
I was getting ECU code 1008 and a scan tool code of 1445. Once I replaced it, reset the check engine light, drove for 30 miles, it never came back on and I went and got the car smogged which it passed. The other part number the stealer gave you $107 is not the right part, they did the same thing to me . I had some pics, but couldn't get them uploaded so you could see better. Sorry man!

Both valves pictured are part of your evap system. The one they sold you is the one that goes under the hood. It is bolted by one bolt that is threaded into the intake manifold, and a nut is used to secure it to this protruding bolt. It is relatively positioned in the middle of the engine bay left to right, and towards the firewall, on top of the intake manifold.
Becareful and replace the correct valve. To be specific there is the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Volume Control Solenoid Valve, which is the part in the first picture, and goes under the hood in the aforementioned location. Then there is the one that goes on the canister in the second picture and is called the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Vent Control Valve.
Double check to make sure you are replacing the correct one.

ok. lets clear this up. the evap purge control solinoid is the part you recived. change it! it wont hurt. the big box in the second pic is the evap canister. its like a charcol filter box. if its heavy then change it! its only around $44 from the dealership. changing them both will nit hurt at all. if you still get codes then check all of your vac lines under the dood. you may have a leak which is causing you to get that code.

Where to buy (EVAP) Canister Purge Volume Control Solenoid Valve?
Where to buy (EVAP) Canister Purge Volume Control Solenoid Valve?
Maxima 95 Code 1008
The dealer wants $ 251.00 for EVAP canister purge volume control valve.
I’ve noticed that people who had the same problem were able to get it for $140 -$150. Where?
What is the part number?
Appreciate your help in advance!

Hey! Don't laugh. I was just about ready to order the valve on the canister and what I really want in the "Canister Purge Volume Control Valve" mounted on the manifold.
I've got a '96 I30. Everything in this post applies to me as much now as it did to them back in 2004. So thanks for keeping old threads alive. This helped me a lot.
So where can I buy this part? Stealership wants $300! I'd even take a used one if the pins 4-5-6 stepper coil is good.
I've googled and googled and can find no after-market part. Any ideas? Thanks

I purchased a purge valve for my 1998 maxima 2 years ago from this site and it's worked since then.

You can purchase the purge valve at www.rockauto.com for $53. The purge valve, PN 911500, is for a 1996 Maxima so I'm sure it will fit your 1996 I30.

www.Courtesyparts.com sells it for $163, or you can get an aftermarket soleoind, PN 2M1056 at www.rockauto.com for $105. To save money buy it from a member: 4th GEN classifieds

i am having some issues with my EVAP system and I could use some help. I have a part that I need to replace but I don't know the name of it. The hose that comes off the canister vent control valve goes behind the canister and connects to this part. Then another hose comes off this part and is just left open on the end. Any help would be appreciated

DO NOT RE-INSTALL that evap canister. The charcoal will be sucked out of it and into the engine, giving you a check engine light and 2 maybe 3 codes. Replace the canister. You have to know when your car was manufactured as the canister had minor changes made to it. I think you need canister Nissan Part # 14950-56u17 (cars made through 03/97). It costs about $40 at the dealer.

scroll up. Posts 7 and 8 in this very thread have a description of where the parts are located. Since the 4th gen only has one engine, the location is the same in your 97.

Hey I'm having issues with my vent control valve and I could use some help. I pulled codes P0440 (EVAP leak) and P0446 (canister vent control valve circuit fault). So I removed my CVCV and applied 12 V directly from the battery, it worked just fine. Thing is I noticed from the FSM and other threads that there is an O-ring but I did not find one when I removed my CVCV. Could the absence of the O-ring trigger the EVAP codes?
I would really appreciate any help
