Belts replace on ve30de

How do you replace the belts? When removing the axle I notice that the belt closes to the motor by the oil pan is in bad shape. I'm still waiting for my axle so I figure its a good time to replace now

There nothing I have to remove first. Or is it as easy as loosen the bolt that tighten it and replace the belt and retighten the screw ?

They're super easy man. You have to loosen the idler pulley nut, use the tensioner screw to move the idler pulley to get enough slack to remove the belt. Then install the new belt, use the tensioner screw to move the idler pulley back to tighten the belt, then tighten the idler pulley nut back.

The alternator doesn't have an idler pulley but it does have a tension adjustment arm.

This is an old UDP write-up, but it also explains how to replace the belts:

My car is the same way. Windows go up but not down. My previous car, a VE auto, was the opposite. Two or three times I spent $5 at the local junk yard on replacement switches, and each time I ended up with one that was broken a different way.

You might want to do the front main seal while you're at it. Oil and/or coolant will destroy new belts.
